How high can he jump...!

Ok so I have just installed some log rolling around my outdoor guinea pig pen. It is around 44cm high, that's about a foot and a half. So I went out earlier to find one had gotten out. I put him back in to see whether he would try again. He looked up at the height, decided he might make it, then leaped on top, then over! Is this normal behaviour, I didn't think guinea pigs liked heights! Now I have to find some other form of barrier, aargh!
 
A foot and a half?! Seriously? My biggest still isn't full-grown but the highest barrier I've seen him clamber over is maybe 5-6 inches. They aren't natural jumpers or climbers I don't think, so that seems pretty strange!
 
I've seen some videos on YouTube of piggies jumping on sofas :)) But yes, you do need to film it! Cheeky thing :))
 
I have a guinea pig who loves to jump out of stuff. There is no way I could have a cage with no lid on it for him. I had to put him in a big rubbermaid bin to observe him in my living room one day and he jumped out. A grid would be no problem for him. My other guinea pigs also love to jump up onto their wood hidey houses. I think most guinea pigs aren't jumpers but some do :)
 
My little Bingo used to put his front paws up the side of his run (it is just over knee high in height) then spring into the air. Once he got out of the run that doesn't have a cover and landed on the top of the covered one next to it! He was always jumping out of and off things. He had absolutely no concept of distance or respect for gravity!

My Vinny likes baths until its time to be rinsed off. The he jupms right out of the tub and onto my chest and just clings there:)) He is the first I have had that ever jumped this high! Haha I guess some just like to have a little more fun:p It would be cute to see a little video of your piggy doing his thingx)
 
My 5 month old guinea pigs jump and climb on and over anything they can! One can jump pretty high considering her size!

My first pig Kiara was an escapologist! She'd get out of anything!

The grass on the other side of the fence (my neighbour's garden) was obviously a lot taster than the grass in her run! xD
 
Some piggies just love to jump! I have seen clips of piggies jumping on a sofa.

I had one that would jump on anything she could put her feet on - and that included my staircase, flower pots and the vegetable rack... Try to explain to your gasman with a straight face that the cardboard barrier on the stairs is piggy proofing! mallethead
