How dose this seem to house my 3 guinea pigs.

for that price you could get one made bigger and better to your own spec!!!

try zoopluss

I have indoor piggies so can't really advise on this but I'm sure someone will be along soon. I was looking at the price tag and was thinking that you could make your own ( just as nice as this - if not better) for a lot less if you're handy. Worth considering as making your own means you can custom build it to your own piggies needs. :)

thanks for the replys :D

I Have tried looking else where but there is nothing this size on any of the sites i know of... have tried zooplus but there is nothing i could see big enough for what i want. i know the price is a bit steep... but i cant find anything this size for a better price... and my girls happiness and safety is first and foremost. I fancy spoiling them and though this would be nice.

I just wondered if this was suitable. I used to have one of these years ago (slightly diffrent) for my rabbits and they loved it, i just wondered if people thought that piggys would?

Any alternative of a similar size that anyone knows of, plese direct me to it... because after days of searching, this is the best set up i could find :)

Thanks...

The height of it may scare them a little, I find piggies are a bit overwhelmed by large open space at first, as remember in the wild they don't live out in the open and it can be a bit ARGH for them.

I am soon to be purchasing the below for my herd of 4

http://www.the-rabbit-hutch-shop.com/6ft-5-x-2ft-5-giant-rabbit-guinea_pig-hutch-cage.html

You can get it with a run underneath too

http://www.the-rabbit-hutch-shop.co...ferret-hutch-run-large-bunny-cage-gdhg64.html

It's a VERY good price and I have heard very good quality.

I've heard they are amazingly well built (and seriously heavy), I did consider one but I need to stack my new one on two others and am worried this would break them! It is also a bit more than I can afford now unfortunately.

Yeh luckily i have been saving up for my dream hutch over the last few months. For me i just want as best quality as possible.

Thanks so much for your replies. I just want a nice home for my 3 girlies. :D Sorry i ask so many questions. You have been a big help. :D

We have hutch number 23 from REHutches and I love it! Doeylicious is right, it is fantastically well built and completely soild. The wood is really thick - no flimsy ply! But it does weigh about 4 tonnes (or felt like it when we tried to move it!)

The guy there is really helpful too and adapted the ramps for pigs. These hutches are expensive but, in my opinion, well worth the money!

I like your first choice too as well though - would give masses of floor space!

My daughter and I did a lot of research into hutches too and all the ones you have shown look very good quality and lovely. We have 7 guinea pigs, 2 boars and a herd of 5 sows and 2 neatherland dwarf rabbits. Just thought I would share with you our solution. We ended up buying a 12ft x 8ft shed (second hand £250). We then divided the shed into 4 separate sections, rabbits, female guinea pigs and male guinea pigs - won't live together but like to see each other! We then built runs attached to the outside of the shed and have cut holes in the shed so they can come and go as they please during the day and have sliding doors to shut them indoors at night. They all have loads of room and it's very easy to keep clean.

This does take up a lot of our garden and has been a lot of hard work - mainly by my daughters boyfriend - but it's perfect. Unfortunatley I've not taken any photos of it yet so can't post one.

my piggys live indoors and just have a pen for 'playing out' and munching grass in, but i think this looks good for 3 pigs, provided they all have a seperate bed somewhere to prevent fighting or anything, like their own pigloo http://www.the-rabbit-hutch-shop.co...r-rabbits-guinea_pigs-home_pets-ip860407.html or one of these sort of things each http://www.the-rabbit-hutch-shop.com/hanna-natural-wood-ferret-rabbit-house-tr62053.html just remeber that in winter piggys need to be kept warm, so need plenty of bedding and preferably one of these if they're going to be living outside http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/...ions_pillows/heat_pads_and_heat_pillows/59060 x

Sounds fantastic!

Is it just me or does the ramp look very steep for piggies little fat hairy legs?

gdhg64_1.jpg

Does look steep but could easily be modified, just extend it so the gradient is decreased :)

I personally am not a fan of hutches with runs underneath as I am never convinced they are entirely fox proof, but space wise this is very good, just needs a bit of ramp management!

Help!

mallethead

I've taken some photos of our "shed" but can't work out how to post them on here. Can anyone help? I expect I'm just being really thick!

Thanks
Ellie

I dont know how to but i am desperate to see what you have done! We are having a shed delivered at the end of the month, we have 2 girls and 2 more will be joining us. I have posted before asking for shed set up ideas, do you have them in hutches in the shed or do they roam free etc. I was really hoping you would put some pics up wen I read your earlier post! Lets hope someone can help!x

If you have a photobucket account upload them onto there and then you can upload the pictures that way.

Sounds like a fab set up!

i a still very torn between the rabbit run:
http://www.ukkennels.co.uk/rabbit_hutch_and_run.html(8ft x40inches in total),
or the upgrade of that the 10ft x 40in:
http://www.ukkennels.co.uk/wilton_cat_run.html

or the 6ftx 2ft hutch:

http://www.rehutches.com/single-whopper-rabbit-hutch.php

have also seen this 1: (Width: 5ft - Height: 3ft 10in - Depth: 3f)

http://www.rehutches.com/single-deluxe-rabbit-hutch-bedding-upstairs-log-lap-extra-deep.php

am totally unsure... each one would be adaped with igloos, tunnels, lots of bedding etc... am just unsure witch one is more suitable for 3 piggys with lots of space.

Hutches

Hi jenniferanneharris

I think all the hutches you have shown are great. I feel drawn to the rabbit hutch it looks like it would give the pigs more room than the others, have you worked out the floor space in them all? It would also be much easier to put hide aways and toys into and maybe you could even build a second level in it?It doesn't look as nice as the others and there is the problem that it is quite big and once the grass has all been eatten it would be very difficult to move. We have built our runs on wood to solve the problem of no grass and mud.

It is so difficult when buying something like this because it's not until you have it that you realise exactly what you want! Good luck with your decision. Your piggies are obviously very well cared for and I'm sure they will be happy which ever one you choose. :)p

Our piggies and rabbits don't have hutches in the shed - they have lots of hide aways and small wooden boxes to sleep in if they want to. I haven't had time to look at how to load the pictures and I'm away this weekend but hopefully will manage to get them on soon. :))

I really like this one but all the hutches are so expensive! (I have had to convert them into the Australian dollar rolleyesrolleyes) This one has a clever design though. You are best just to make your own as some of the ones with the run down the bottom are not fox/cat/dog proof.

Not sure if you've seen this article - gives the space required for different numbers of guinea pigs.

i have to say I love the first choice and like you am planning to purchase a new hutch mine being for 4 sows. I know that at our local rescue they have a similar one for their sows and they all seem very happy in there with an extra run attached during good weather. all the hutches are fabulous the rehutch one is lovely too I saw them when I first got piggies but my OH said no way. Now hoping might get some cash for my birthday and then like you will be making a decision. good luck I am sure they will be happy with any of your choices and you must remember that you need to house it in your garden and clean it so some of the choice is your personal one. x

i have these for my guinea pigs, i bought 2 off him and joined them together with a tunnel, each one is 7ft long and just under 2ft wide, the floor is very thick 1" wood, the whole hutch is very sturdy and gives tons of running room. the whole lid lifts up for access, very much easier for clean out time. the only thing we want to do to ours is make the front into opening doors but its not a big deal. we put ours up on legs as i have problems with my joints, so its so easy for me to get into them now. best piggy set-up we have ever had, and what a bargain price of just £65 too :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNUSED-DW...et_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item19c5addb0f

this is ours all set-up on the legs, theres no reason why they couldnt be sat on the floor with a run on them though, the bedroom door drops down and can be used as a ramp :) we ordered our 2nd one with a full wire front as its used as their 'run' hutch as they cant have a fixed run on them without a ramp which i didnt want, they have a separate run on the grass which is light weight to move around.
