I think I'm doing it a hard waymallethead.
So what I do is I shake all the poops and and hay off and than I take the dirty fleece and I spray it with water in the bathtub and I wait till its clean, then I spray vinagar, soap and baby shampoo (mostly the baby shampoo and soap) and I fill the tub up a bit and I let it sit for about an hour or so and than I drain the tub and wash the fleece once again and than I dry it and put it in the cage.
How does everyone else clean their fleece, when I used the washing machine it didnt cean it, it came out gross and stinkymallethead

I shake mine outside and then pop it in to a wash bag and put it on a 60 degree wash cycle in the washing machine.

I did go without a washing machine for 2wks when ours broke and while waiting for the new one to be delivered i had to handwash the fleece - after one attempt i gave it up and asked my mum if she's take it to hers and wash it for me....when handwashing i didn't think the fleece was very clean afterwards....

A tip for fleece and washing machines - if you 'over-fill' the machine with too much fleece it wont wash very well and will come out smelling awful. The problem with fleece is that it absorbs the water, so if you put to much in the machine you end up with dirty fleece ;)

I use a brush and pan to sweep up the poos and bits of food then shake it on the garden border. Give it a good shake and then wash it 40-60oc and when dry put it in the freezer to hopefully kill anything and then get it out to air dry again before I use it. Bought quite a few cheap fleeces from Primark now so they have a good rotation of use.

I actually wash my fleece on hot with the pigs' towels & cloth diapers (no they dont wear them :P) then dry it all on hot, too. I use vinegar in the bleach chamber & our regular detergent (all free & clear).

I always heard washing and drying fleece on hot wasnt a good idea but i did it once on accident and didnt have any issue so i just kept doing it.

Eta: obviously before washing i brush the poos off and sweep as much hay off as i can. And i use washing bags.

I do the same as everyone else, shake it all off pop it in an old pillow case and pop it in the wash on a 60.

I did go awhile without a washing machine and ended up washing them in a bath - that was back breaking!

I only put one fleece in a wash at a time so they come out super clean :)

I shake, give them a quick brush, then wash on 30. I usually just do an empty rinse cycle afterwards. I do put the fleeces and matress protectors in on 2 seperate cycles, but they always come out clean. :)

I just shake off the poo and worst of the hay into the compost bin and then I give in it a really good shake usually into a strong wind (it's always windy here!) Then I put it in the machine usually together with any old towels that we use as bath mats on a 60 degree wash and it comes out absolutely fine! The towels are usually rock hard without conditioner but that is ok as they are only for standing on.

Sometimes I do the fleece on its own on a quick wash cycle (still at 60)

I put my fleece and towels together in zippered over sized pillow cases. Then wash on the extra heavy (longest) cycle with the hottest water and use detergent and 2-3 cups of vinegar. I also have it set to do a 2nd rinse before taking everything out of the pillow cases and put in the dryer.

Most of the hay and hair comes off in the dryer and safely gets caught in the lint trap. The hay and hair don't stick inside the dryer like they would in the washer, so it doesn't get on my clothes in the next load.

I don't have a garden to shake mine in :)) so I use the dustpan and brush to get off as much of the hay as I can, then chuck it in the machine and wash on a 60 and hang to dry. I have 2 sets of fleeces so rotate them.

I lift it up and shake/sweep it all into the base of the cage (much easier to sweep it all up) and try to brush off as much of the hair and hay that I can.
After that I shake it out of the window lol

Then I put it in the wash. Although I only use a pillowcase at the moment to wash it in so most of the hair stays on the fleece anyway rolleyes
