This is going to sound very silly. I have 3 guinea pigs around 6 months old I have seen the fabric liners people use on the bottom of cages and in runs. I'm wondering how because I clean the cage which I line with hay amd half an hour later there is plenty of poo and wee but all the photos I see of other people's look nice and clean. They also don't poo in one part they poo everywhere.

Welcome to the forum

The pictures of them looking nice and clean are usually literally as they have had new fleece put in. They don’t stay like that for long!

The liners absorb urine through to a middle layer and keep it locked in. The top of the fleece dries. Poops are brushed off 1-2/3 times a day and then liners changed anywhere usually from every 3 days to every 5 days (it’s very cage dependent.
It is normal for piggies to poop everywhere rather than in one place.

Our piggies are not tidy, infact I have yet to meet a tidy guinea pig!
Our boys leave us poo everywhere and anywhere!
We also have big messy hay piles. So our photos rarely look tidy, a lot of people just take photos after a big clean up- which naturally doesn’t reflect the real world of having guinea pigs as pets.
We use fleece cage liners & bobble bath mats.

All the shots you see on Social Media of piggies are not real. They have clearly just been cleaned out just for the photoshoot. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there is a pristine cage somewhere especially for these photoshoots where the hay is placed strategically and if a bit happens to wander with a piggy it's picked up immediately along with any piggy poop! The piggies are also absolutely perfect without a hair out of place.

However real life with piggies means hay everywhere, poop everywhere, messy fur with bits of hay, food, hayseeds, poop ..... stuck in it somewhere. Also you have mucky clothes, hay in your hair and poop in your bra! You also have very happy piggies who are living a normal life.

Ditto with what the others said... I place the smaller fleece pee pads in places where they eat and/or sleep. They tend to pee & poo more in those places. Those get changed as needed, usually daily. I change the larger fleece liners that cover the floor of the cage about once every 1 to 2 weeks. Lots of laundry...

I use one big fleece. Since my boys are neighbors, I don't worry about scent transfer and I spot clean daily and wash the fleece every 3 to 4 days. If I have an odd work week I do every five days but always feel a little guilty if I let it go that long.

There are several old threads about fleece liners care and usage if you do a search. I love them, it's a lot of money to spend initially but you can expect them to last for years.

If I wanted a photo of a pristine cage I would have to take it almost immediately.
Mine like to leave a large pile of fresh poops for me as soon as the cage has been cleaned.
Unless I’m doing a deep clean the piggies stay in the cage and hide at the end I’m not working on.
This means they give me poop before I’ve finished !
