as many of you will know, i have recently took in 3 baby sow piggies (sisters). one of them is blind the other 2 are fine. i have 7 other pigs and have never had any of them biting us. these 3 new girls love to get hold of you and sink their teeth in:( how on earth do i stop them doing this? hope, the blind one is probably the worst which i suppose comes from her not being able to see. she sniffs everything out and is always first to the food dish:(|) we would love to be able to have a cuddle with them without worrying about teeth sinking in to us

I will be honest, this is some advice I read here, I think wiebke, posted it. And I have used it also.:p

I believe a blow of air to the snout or a Pinch to the back of the neck with a distinctive noise will suffice. I checked it out when my captain jack took a huge chunk out of me,I too was not used to a pig biting. so far it's worked...-c

The last action mimics what the mother would do to bring the baby back into line. I didn't take jack long to get the idea, to be fair, he's a very intelligent piglet. :...

Loki bites me ALL the time!
At first, I thought it was because w
As only a baby, but he's nearly a year old now!
Although not as bad as he used to be!

Baby piggies and blind piggies bite to get a taste of things. It is kinds like a baby playing with and tasting your hand. Just turn them around when they do it and they will get the message hopefully soon.

I wouldn't for one moment suggest pinching a pig - we aren't mother pigs and our strength is far greater!

I have a biting pig - and I have to put up with him, although I haven't made huge efforts to handle him to get him out of the habit. I had another pig who was a biter and through the use of an oven glove, persistance and a strong 'no' when he bit, he began to learn that it wouldn't get him his own way. :)

Buddy bites anyone who holds him who isnt me.. He is SUCH a mummy's boy (Nightmare cutting his nails - He wont sit on my lap it has to be on my chest.. typical male! as soon as he is on my lap he runs up my body! I have to hold him with one hand and trim with the other ;) now a master at it!) but he has nibbled my fingers a few times.. he likes bananas so maybe he is getting the two confused... it would be an insult if he thinks my fingers look like bananas..

Peppa some times tries to take a chunk off my finger - Never cut my fingers though just a sharp pinch! He doesn't mind who cuddles him! As long as he can give them toothy kisses it's fine!

I just firmly say no biting and scratch on the nose and they stop! I wouldnt want to pinch them :S What i think would be a small pinch may be a big one to them...

When holding them have you tried using snuggle sacks? I've heard they are good for nippy pigs and it may be more comfortable for them!

My Troy is independent and would rather run about on the sofa that stay in my hands but he never bites just squirms alot!

Don't get me wrong..I wasn't saying a proper pinch. You'd have to see it in action, jack doesn't complain. It just stops him and he's learning. He's done really well. In fact he's sitting on my lap because he was annoying the girls with his trampoline antics above the girls cage :))
