just wondering how those of you with 6+ piggies or several of different sexes house your piggies?

Where do you keep them?

Any pics would be really interesting too, thanks!

Ive currently got 6 piggies (soon to be 7). Ive got 2 girls and will have 5 boys. 4 of my boys live as pairs and each pair lives in a 5ft x 2.5ft indoor cage. My two girls will very soon have a boyfriend and the three of them will again share a 5ft x 2.5ft indoor cage. Two of my cages are downstairs in my dining room (lucky we have a 28ft living/dining room) and my other cage is upstairs.

2 piggies require a minimum of 4ft x 2ft (but bigger is always better)
3 piggies will require a minimum of 5ft x 2ft
4 piggies will require a minimum of 6ft x 2ft
and so on....

I have 6 piggies in 3 different pairs. Boy/Girl pairings this is my set up.

Top: Fred and Wilma.
Middle: Pebbles and Patrick.
Bottom: Milo and Esme.

I used to house 3 pigs, in the below cage. Yes my housing standards have dropped. rolleyes.

One Day I hope to have a big group and will go back to this set up. Although I couldn't not have my boys.

thats an awesome hutch did * self design/build it? i hope to build on in the summer 2 level 2x5 foot for my 3 boars i have an idea of what i could look like but any tips ideas are more than welcome :)

My Tribe has an indoors two story cage with additional mezzanines and a big hay tray in the bottom of the tv cabinet. At night or when I'm out for any length of time, they have a pen attached, but are usually allowed to roam the living room which has been piggy proofed and has a couple more piggy corners.

The pen is currently permanent (although it has a door which can be closed) because of my new neutered male, but things will go back to normal once he's joined the girls and the living room won't look so much like a zoo!

Thank You Jane, you're welcome anytime :)

I'll tell Snoopy he's needed in Warrington :))

Thank You. Although there wasn't much designing as it could only be as long as the wall, which is 10ft. I just told my OH they needed to be the 2ft deep & he went ahead & built it. :)

Is that 4 girls together/ How do they get along I'm trying to work out my options for my 5 3boys 3girls.:{

Yep 4 girls together, it was 6 but Peppa has issues rolleyes and attacks herself when near other guinea pigs, so I moved her indoors as she was poorly.
Although she was sad on her own so I brought my youngest piggy Betty in to be with her, It's taken a few weeks for her to get used to Betty but they're fine now.
Hopefully I can re-introduce all 6 girls back together, none of the others have a problem only Peppa, and the age range is 5mths to over a year.
Sometimes they have grumbles and chatter at each (mainly when they're in season) but they've never actually fought.
My brother has 13 girls living together happily in a huge shed.
Ooh my boys can't live together as they fight terribly, they lived together from being babies (5wk & 8wk) till about 4/5mths and then they just turned on each other and kept drawing blood so I bought a shed and put all of the girls together (as they were in 3 hutches) and seperated the boys properly but they are next to each other so they can still talk and see each other.

Do the boars not fall out having sows next door ? I have four boys and hopefully will be adopting girls soon, our set up is similar to yours and hoped to build a 'loft' extension above.

mine are indoors and this was the set up the hay bit has been taken out and moved to the left end.

it houses 7 piggies, did house 8.

No they don't. The only time we have displays of dominance is if the girls have been somewhere first so i always ensured the boys went out on the grass first.
When i clean them out, i use the same carrier for everyone but the boys have their own towel, everyone else uses another.

When everyone lived outside in their shed the boys had girls next door, underneath & opposite & there were no arguments just small tiffs which can also kick off over a lettuce leaf :))

Ive got 5 girls in a double (v soon to be triple) storey indoor cage, not a C&C, tho i may make one in the future. It will be 2x ferplast double 100 cages put together.

x

it was vet bed, i bought it on ebay, it didnt have a green back :)

i couldnt get on with it in the end it was too much to wash it and could only fit one half in the washing machine at once so it more than doubled my weekly washing load.

I have 9 pigs, 3x trios which are two sows and a neutered boar each.

Each trio has a C&C 5x2 area. I store things in the bottom level but it is ready to go as another 5x2 area. If I didn't have 3 boars, I would have had 2x double 5x2 with ramps going up, however with the 3 boars, this would mean that there would be fighting.

I have 7 pigs at the moment, but two are babies and will be going to new homes.

I built these cages when I had three males and four girls, but now have one male and four girls. The back cage is 6'X2.6' and the side cage is 5.3'X2'. To be honest, the side cage was too small for 3 males, in my opinion, cos I'm used to them having huge spaces in the summer, so I felt it was too small, even though two of them were only half grown. It's plenty big enough for my single male on his own now though. The back cage is huge and plenty big enough for my four girls and the two babies. :)

This is their summer accomodation. The hutch is pretty small, but on nice days they're out in the run a lot so have enough space. If it's raining they have to go in the hutch, but at least they have two storeys. I have two of these, one for girls and one for boys. When there's enough grass and nice weather I move the runs to the grass during the day time. :) I had three males in one of these hutch-run combo, and 2 females in another, before I got more newest 2 females. And I filled up the runs with little houses, tunnels and loads of things, so they look more interesting than in that photo :D
