Hello,
We adopted a female guinea 2 yrs ago, not knowing much about them, but falling in love as soon as we held her. She was about 6 weeks old and she has become so sweet and affectionate. We're thinking she may be lonely and are wondering how best to find her a friend and how to introduce them without causing any stress. Any helpful suggestions? Thanks!

well done on getting her a friend. Piggies are highly social and need to live with another piggy.

The best way is via dating at a rescue centre. They can hopefully help find a compatible friend and introduce them for you. This will result in acceptance before you bring home a new piggy.

the guides below give further information on bonds and how to go about introducing

If you can take your girl rescue dating so she has a say in who she wants to live with (or not), then that would be best! There are thankfully several recommended good standard guinea pig rescues listed for your state. This ensures that you come home only with a new piggy if acceptance has happened. You can look at both sows and neutered boars.

This is another good rescue/sanctuary operating out of Bloomersville that may have guinea pigs: The Pipsqueakery

Otherwise you have to have a plan B at the ready in case the bonding fails and you have to brace for all the other usual problems that can come with piggies that have not undergone a quarantine/medical care and pregnancy watch at the rescue.
