I know its normal for boars to mount eachother. Nibbles & Squeekypete both used to do it, but Pete is
now a big chubby boy at least 1lb heavier than little dainty Nibbles, also Nibbles has bad hips so cant always run away when Pete squashes him. It hurts Nibbles when Pete does this, I've told everyone
to give him a gentle prod whenever he's caught doing it in the hope it'll put him off! But it doesnt seem to be working yet. Its only thie past week that its reallly become a problem, perhaps its a spring thing! can anyone suggest a way to disuade Pete from doing this so often? I dont want to have to seperate them

i have no idea on how to discourage this. Sorry. hope it gets better. x

oh well, we'll have to keep on prodding him ! I noticed today Nibbles has started fighting back, perhaps
he'll sort the problem out by himself.

some have suggested here on the forums to dab a bit of vicks on the bottom. perhaps you could divide the cage until pete's hormones calm down. poor little nibbles. :'( :'( :'( that way they can stil;l see and smell each other. we use a cooling rack with cable ties. have the same problem with jessie girl who is always mounting zoe and we're in oz so it's not spring causing jessie to do it. she does it every month when she is on heat and she wobbles her rump and rattles and bosses zoe around. and yet zoe is 2 years older than jessie, zoe is just to laid back. good luck with your boys. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

hmm Vicks on the bottom, I'll try a bit of that & let you know if it puts Pete off.
Thanks

Please be very careful if you do decide to use Vicks. If it gets onto the `sensitive bits` it will be extremely painful. Little animals can have heart attacks or die of shock if they have too much pain.

The choice is yours but I`d go for the partition instead - at least for a little while to see what happens. O0

Thanks for the concern
I used a teeny weeny weeny bit on the tips of a couplenibbles hairs on his neck. Squeeky Pete spent a while sniffing the air but didnt seem too bothered. However he has stopped mounting Nibbles
which is good as Nibbles is very poorly at the mo. so if he starts again I'll have to seperate them.
