how do i pick the best friend for my piggie?

I have a long haired male guinea pig he is 3 or 4 I'm not exactly sure i was watching him for a friend a few years ago and she just never took him back. I didnt really know anything about guinea pigs so i didnt realize they like to have lots of cage buddies. I feel so bad he has been living all this time with no companion so i want to get him a friend asap but i dont know if i should get a younger piggie or the same age? How do i introduce them? Will two adult males get along? I believe he has "pea eye" is this contagous to other guinea pigs? i wlould appriciate any advice thanks!

Several guinea pig rescues offer dating services, where your piggie will be able to go and choose a friend. Two males will get along and more experienced members on here will be able to offer you advice regarding bonding, so would a rescue.

Where abouts are you located so a rescue may be suggested close to you.
