Please could someone let me in on their tips & tricks on making it safe 4 my 3 youngsters .

Its a 4ft hutch on top , and run on the bottom. I'm not putting them in until its safe .. i'd be worried sick :)>>>

Thankyou x

I would put a bit of wood along were the ladders are so the pigs can't fall off, and you may need to cover the ramp with something they can grip if they find it difficult.

My main concern would be them falling off... Piggies can generally use ramps, unless you have my girls :(!.

Yep, I too would put a 'wall' around where the ramp goes down, just incase one of them stepped back and fell down :( I'd also put a wall down the side of the ramp, just to prevent any falls off that.

I think the advice you have been given is very good, just make sure the wee one's can't do a header of any sides and they should be fine.

my ramp has a cage over the top!

Thanks every1 have made it safe & they love it. after 20 mins they were taking turns running up and down lol. Will post pix when i find my cable :))

My first piggy cage had a 3 foot ramp going from downstairs to up and the piggys never went up, it took them months till they first went up!
When Perky died a couple of wheeks a go I moved them to a new cage as Pinky (her sister) kept looking around Perkys favourite part of the cage and squeking loudly trying to find her.
The new cage I put 3inch high sides out of wood and within 10 minutes Pinky and Poppy (her cage mate now that we got with Patch 5 months ago).
They love the ramp eventhough it is a bit of a squeeze for tubsy Pinky!
I'm now thinking of extending the cage and nearly tripling the floor space!

This is the layout I'm thinking of, it will have just under 18 square foot of floor space.
I'm doing this because Patch is being neutered on Monday (just 2 days!) and he an then go in with the 2 girls but the cage isn't big enough.

P.S I love your 'tunnel ramp' Gaile! Do the piggys like it because in the new cage I'm going to build there are going to be 2 more ramps. Do they mind there not being solid ides? I think mine only like their ramp because it as solid sides and they can't really see over it.

I love this idea! My Teddy and Carrot just have a hammock going from 1 level to the next at a slant and that works great they can use it to go up and they can sleep in it and hide from my evil cat.

Its like this:

The hammock is the blue thing. I also have this... bendy tunnel thats made out of plastic that I was gonna use but they were just hiding it and it was annoying me so I gave that back to the girls, You can see it in this picture its the purple thing

It works great as a ramp because they can't fall off and its all.. corrugated? dunno if thats the right word but its got ridges in it they can grip. Though its nearly impossible to get those brats out.
