How can I give my piggies exercise in the winter?

I've been adopted by two guinea pigs, and this will be their 2nd winter outside, but the first that I've cared for them.

They are in a sheltered part of the garden, with a weatherproof cover on, and they're in a two-tier hutch.

At the moment I let them out onto the grass each day (it's like a summers day her atm) but how can I exercise them in the winter?

I know I mustn't bring them indoors because of the change of temperature ...their run has a weather cover over the top, but not the sides.

If I covered all the sides with maybe bubble wrap, and then the top with the cover I'm using now, would it still be too cold for them ?
They would not be on grass in the winter, but the patio with lots of hay etc underneath.
Thanks for any advice, Bren

My guinea pigs are out in their runs all day in the winter (unless there's snow on the ground). I just make sure they have somewhere off the grass to go in if they want to. Mine don't seem to suffer.

As long as they can get somewhere dry and warm off the ground (if not their hutch, then something you can keep indoors out of damp and frost), they can go out on most days, at least for a short while!

Thanks for that....as most of the people on here seem to keep their piggies indoors, I didn't think I'd be able to put them in a run, during the winter

They have a big box in their run, so they can get off of the cold ground or grass if they want to.
Great help, thanks again.

Um....mine are in the shed and are coming inside for winter....the change of tempertaure should be okay for them surely?:^-

I don't excercise mine as much in the winter. With the colder weather, they use more of their energy to keep warm. You could maybe put a pen down in a shed, with some newspaper on the floor, and let them have a run around in there for a while?

My piggies are also outside. During the winter months, we turn the radiator off in the kitchen and on the landing so they can still come inside and play but not get too warm :)
