Hi everyone,
My 2 sows (bubble & squeak) live in a big hutch. Throughout the day usually they are in their 4x3 foot run. When they go back in their hutch later on they are still very active and are running around. Therefore, I want them to have as much room as possible. Currently they have 2 pigloos in their which take up a fair bit of room (they are the big ones). They also have their chews and toys ect. Anyone have any suggestions of what I could replace/ take out to create a bit more room?

you could try a large box with 2 holes as a hidey, then they can rund through it as well :) move the toys to corners?

i find that they like the obstacles to run round anyway makes it more fun.

I use small plastic stepping stools as hideys, and my girls love to use them as obstacles to zoom through, like what lauralucy said above.

They sell these in Home Bargains for £1.29, i got 2 pink ones this weekend, the piggies LOVE Them!

Instead on tpys hanging around the floor, i usually hang things from the cage, such as bits of cardboard ripped up and toilet rolls tubes stuffed with hay, hung from the side of the cage with string. xx

That's a good idea :)) Thanks for that -c

I added a partial second floor to my girls' hutch. I didn't want to drill holes in it because I'm a doofus at DIY and probably would have made an irreversible mess lol. So instead, hubby made a raised platform with an old bird cage tray and some small lengths of wood for legs. I added one of those flexible log bridges as stairs and the piggies have no trouble getting up and down!

Here's a couple of photos, it's not the prettiest thing in the world but it does the trick nicely. I've since adjusted the steps to end on top of the little corner house, this means they don't get in the way of the girls doing laps around the hutch lol.

You'll also notice that I took the bedroom partition out, this was to give them more free running space. They have lots of hideys to snuggle up in and I have a hutch cover for when the weather is miserable.

That looks fab and I love those little food bowls in the rack. Where did you get them from?

Thank you. :) They came from Zooplus, here's the link: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/accessories/feeder_water_bottles/bowls/33512

The day after I bought it, they had it on sale for half price, just my luck lol!

Thanks hun, it's a 6x2 hutch from the Happy Hutch Company, the model I have is this one (though the run wasn't attached when I took these photos): http://www.happyhutch.co.uk/rabbit-hutch-and-run-combinations/74

Ok great! It's a fab hutch! How many pigs live in it? (Sorry for all the questions I'm very nosy, haha!)

That's OK. :)

It's home to four girls, but I am preparing another hutch because one of them is expecting some babies very soon! :))

Aww little babies how exciting! Haha!

And a little bit scary lol! I'm worried in case there are complications, she's only 19 weeks old and was pregnant when she came to me.

Looking forward to seeing the colour of the babies though, I have no idea who the father is so it will be a complete surprise! :))

Oh dear! I'm sure she will be absolutely fine! When is she due? Haha, must be exciting not knowing what the babies are gonna be like! You will have to post some pictures when they arrive!

She's probably 2-3 weeks away from having her babies, can't be sure exactly as I don't know when the mating took place lol.

I'll definitely be posting some photos! :))

Not to long to go then! Can't wait to see the pictures. Any idea of how many she may be having?
