I've made my own hay bags but they're not very good, for starters I made them out of fleece, when it should've been cotton fabric. My problem is that I keep having mini panic attacks when I can't find one of my piggies in the cage, then it turns out they're hiding inside the hay bag! I was shocked to find even my big 1320g sow got in there too, I didn't think the holes were THAT big!

I'm going to make new ones out of cotton, but I'm not sure how big the holes should be, so it's easy for them to get hay, but impossible for them to get inside, or get their heads stuck.

Any ideas please? :)

I just followed a YouTube video and it said to cut 2 holes, 2 inches square. None of mine has tried to get in the hay bag YET and I have 2 youngsters who are only 6 months old (so up to all sorts of mischief) and 2 older piggles. They don't seem to have any problems getting the hay out.

They will probably get in regardless and if the holes are too small, they won't get enough hay and then there is potential for one of them to get stuck, I think having them sleep inside is better than potential danger, I had the same problem too but pigs will be pigs :)
