I have two guinea pigs- Fudge and Rainbow :) They are 5 years old now and doing well. :D They are living in a 4ft cage with tunnels and toys and have acces to a 4 x 3ft run. However, i have an unused 3ft cage and i'm thinking of adopting a couple more piggies. Would that size cage be suitable? I also have another run, it is triangular shaped but i don't know the dimensions, that is what my piggies have been playing out in all the time until i got the bigger run. I also have 2 rabbits Tinker and Mischief and they used to have the 4 x 3 run but they now have a 7 x 5 x 2 run! Which they lurrrv! :) So that's why the guineas have the run they have now. Please reply as i'd love to know if the cage is big enough- i know it's not huge but don't piggies like to be cosy? xx

Most rescues' minimum cage size is 2x4ft - and that usually means internal dimensions, not the bulky outside. :)

They do like to have nice cosy places to hide certainly. But they also need lots of space to run and investigate for their health and mental stimulation.
And I supose it would mean you asking yourself if you are giving them this with lots of floor time too.
The bigger the better.

There are other factors to be considered. The above quoted minimums are good and more space is good for them. But you also have to realistically assess your time and energy because cleanliness as well as space is important. If you build a giant ranch and then can only get around to cleaning every couple weeks because it is such a chore to get the bedding out, your piggies will be miserable. So the biggest you can make/afford AND keep clean is good.

You can't edit after five minutes.

However, minimal dimensions stay the same. Two guinea pigs should have 2x4 ft floor space, so they can run around and popcorn in all weather.
