I've read everything I can find on the forum about cage sizes but I can never get it right.

I was wondering how many pigs people personally would put in a 6×3 cage

Thanks in advance :)

Note- I'm talking about all female, one male
I'm just asking because I have three in there right now and feel it's a tad cramped but I have a pregnant pig :(

Course don't want to keep too many babies in there, it's too small but was hoping to keep a couple of the babies and not build a new cage

6x3 is equivalent to 9x2, so 7 girls I think would be fine theoretically ?
(I have 3 in a 7x2 and I think it could have 5, but I think that would feel crowded.)

When you say you have a 6x3 cage can you clarify if that is in feet or in c&c grids?

I have 1 neutered boar and 4 sows in an 11 x 2 c and c cage. They make good use of all of it. Three ikea beds, two hay trays and space for water bottles.

i have c&c cages the bottom is a 3x6 with 3x2 loft with 2 females and neutered male. The top cage is exactly the same but with 2 boys in. I dont know if my girls are pregnant yet so i was wondering too how many would be acceptable in my cage size incase they are pregnant and i would keep the girls.

A 3x6 has roughly 24sq feet. So I think you’d be able to fit up to 8 pigs. But bear in mind the space taken up by feeding stations and hides etc.

I think I'll only keep 4 max unless I add a large second level

We have 6 piggies in an L-shaped 11x2 grid so thats a bit more that 26sqft. I think 6 are very happy with that, and I think we could possibly fit an extra piggy in if they all got on... but occasionally if one of the girls is in season or is a bit stroppy then I do think they need and use all their space! So I would say 5 or 6 in a 6x3 cage depending how well they get on, might save fall outs and needing to seperate later!
