I am considering getting a Guinea Pig in a couple years. While I am not from the UK, I hope to get advice.
I am trying to research as much as possible before I get one and I am just trying to research cages.
Any advice?

Hello :)p

Its great that you want to reasearch them first, and they will be great pets! I use a c&c cage (you can look for pics of them) they are grids that you can atach together and it is very easy as you can make the cage to fit you

Thank you!

Well space wise, I probably won't be able to build a cage like I want but I would probably be able to afford a cage off Ebay. If I find some, I'll share them and you can give me a review

Unfortunately, space wise & financially, I will probably not be able to afford a cage like I want. Since I will just be starting my first job, my parents have agreed to let me have 1 Guinea Pig right now as long as I pay for everything.

Possibly, would this cage be big enough for one(As well, as maybe adding 1 in the future after getting my first one):

This is what we call a C&C cage, but you can about halve costs by getting the grids and the coroplex separately. Coroplex is available from sign makers (for shop signs) if you look up the directory and ask around for local outfits, or you can order it in sheets over the internet. Wire cubes/ metal mesh storage grids you may find in places like walmart or ebay. Ramps you can fashion from drain pipes or a piece of plastic or wood, for instance.

A cage like that would be enough for two cavies, as it is two storey.

For bedding we recommend fleeces; those you can get VERY cheaply for a just a few dollars from places like walmart or anywhere that sells polyester bedspreads or baby blankets. The same goes for the underlay of towels.

I've seen Fleece blankets in places like Garden Ridge for about $5. Especially around Christmas time.

Are you in America? You really can make a cage like that for much less money. Bed Bath and Beyond sell the grid units for $20 and I think you get 17 panels in a packet (be sure to check though!). The first eBay link you posted says that it uses 35 panels, so if each pack contained 17 panels, you'd only need to buy 3 packets to make it, you may be able to get away with 2 (if you didn't want a lid on it for example) so that would be $40 spend. Then you would need correx, which isn't expensive at all and can be bought from sign makers locally.

This cage wouldn't be suitable, it would need to be 2 grid panels deep where as this is only 1 panel deep (14 inches). The idea is great though, if it were 2 deep. If you get the panels yourself, you can make it however you like for less money. I think you could easily make one the same as this, but 2 deep, for less money.

they are both what we call C&C cages and are as weikbe said much cheaper to make you own. i made mine for under £50.

It is also best to keept them in pairs they are much happier with company :)
I am now planning to keep a pair(Hopefully! If my parents agree since I will have a job to pay for the food and such).

The 2nd cage(If she has the promotion again in 2 years), comes with two free bowls that can attach to the side of the cage!

thats good :) 2 is better, as kimberley says it's not deep enough and it is cheaper to build you own.
