Hello got my first two GP's yesterday and naturally they are very scared.
I have put them in this outside run and house...
But wondered if they would be better in a 5ft hutch in the shed till they settle ?
Personally I think either way they will take time to settle. You have two options. In the shed its quieter, but then they won't get used to the normal every day comings and goings of your household. Second option is the hutch they are in now, which is more exposed and they may take more time to settle BUT they will be used to everything that goes on around them
It looks nice If you do leave them as they are now, it might be worth putting a ton of hideys everywhere to make them feel more secure. You could try feeding some vegetables or fruit (in moderation, of course) near the bars to encourage them to get out. They might not even with the food, but it's worth trying. You could also cover a part of the outside bit with fleece or something and hang it there?
Have you made sure that your set-up is safe against foxes and that the house is warm enough at night? Are your babies acclimatised to being outdoors yet?
We have been confronted with several cases of outdoors guinea pig predation/break-ins recently.
I have posted settling in information on your other thread.
