Well i now have two older piggies and they are currently in a shop bought cage and access to a run. However i want to convert the space under my stairs to a home for them and looking at using vetbed/fleece/towels for them.

The problem i have is i have two dogs, so whatever design i end up doing needs to have a lid on it that i can lift up to clean them out and get them for cuddles. I was thinking of a wooden structure but am totally stuck.

I dont think that would be safe enough given that there will be dogs around unsupervised at times.
Depending on your space why not a outside wooden run with a lift off lid, you can attach a lock so the dogs can't nose it open.
If theres not space for a ready made one, maybe you could make something of that sort?
Whatever it is I think it has to be extremly dog proof on the off chance that they will be interested.
 
I have just spents ages searching. One of my dogs isnt bothered in the slightest but my collie cross is currently looking through the glass door at them.

I have enought space under my stairs for a 5ft by 2ft ready made outdoor run. It has wood is a cool wavy shape along the bottom of it to. I would then get wood to put on the bottom with some lino and then the towels fleece etc and all there wee hide holes. Do you think this would be ok? Considering they were from a breeder who kept to many in a cage its will be a big difference for them x
 
Sounds brilliant!

I always air on the side of caution with any animal that can potentially hurt them, you never know if the pig suddenly rushes off whether the dogs hunting instinct will kick in.

Saying that I had a piggie you used to chase my cat up the garden path, terrifed the cat and acted very pleased with herself every single time :(|)
 
My pigs lived under the stairs during Winter. Could you maybe make the C&C panels twice as high to stop your dogs getting in?

I have two cats and we're lucky in that they ignore the pigs :)

Yeh the last thing i want is to risk anything with the dogs. I still dont leave my dogs alone with my kids let alone the piggies.

That looks fab under the stairs, mine is used for storing spare car seats and a buggy so would be good to use it for something else x
 
If your like diy you could make some sort of door to make sure your little piggies are safe
 
you could use C&C panels for the roof part and maybe use tie wraps to make a lift up part, thats what we did when our C&C was only one level and we had our dogs around xx
 
I think we are going for a purpose built run with base and lid for under the stairs for them. One that fits through my livingroom door though so i can wheel it through easy enough. xx
