I am going to be moving my male guinea in with my four girls in a few weeks but as I have just had new sheds put in I now have a 7.5ft x 2 ft shelve that the cages are on and want to use as much of this as possible. I was thinking of using the cube things but what do people use as the base for them, something pee proof and easy to clean.

heres some pics as they were tiny when I first came here.

And for those who read the whole post, mr chips is neutered.

I've heard that lots of people use fleece. Thats very good for pee proofing! xx

Sorry I wasnt clear, I dont mean the substrate I mean like the plastic base that goes slightly up the sides, if its plastic that is and where is it from. Thanks though

I can't offer advise as my girlies live in a wooden hutch but your piggies are little cuties x)

Thanks, the 2 rex are sisters. Mrs moo was a pets at home guinea. I'm not a fan but she was instantly effectionate and washing me, who could resist?

Hi xx 6 of my piggies live in my shed they have hutches with cube runs attatched, for the flooring I just use a waterproof tablecloth material the full length and width of the shed as it easy to mop when cleaning them out,
On top of that I use fleece.

Most people use correx as a base for C & C. It is a type of corrugated plastic that is used by signmakers.
I got 2mm 8ft x 4ft from Travis Perkins for around £7-8 a sheet (I don't think they call it correx anymore but should know what you mean). The 2mm is a bit flimsy to work with but has been fine once in place.
Some people prefer 4mm (depends on your budget too). This site sells it at a reasonable price.

You can also ask at local signmakers, they will often be happy to sell you a piece but price varies a lot. I was quoted between £20- £45 per sheet but I know others have got a good deal.
You can use smaller pieces and tape them together with no problems. I used gaffer tape.

This site explains how to make the base.

Thanks very much, I think this is what I have seen in pics

Coroplast/corex is pricey - we were mooching in DIY stores and my OH spotted some old overhead disused hanging signs in a corner. It is exactly the same stuff, Estate Agents use it for For Sale signs etc.
We were cheeky and 'mentioned' we had just adopted two little piggies and they gave us loads which we cut to size. Purrrfect bases and it is easy to clean/wipe with the pet sprays.

I bought a huge sheet of correx for £18.

It measured 8 foot by 4 foot, and they cut in half for free - making it easier to handle.

They delivered it for £8 - local delivery, only about a mile and a half.
