Hi Guys,

I am looking for some housing advice... My girls live in the house over winter and I am looking for the best option for housing. They used to just be in the spare bedroom on towels but the wee soaks through to the carpet and as I have just moved house I want to try to protect the carpet. I was thinking about putting lino over the carpet but under the towels but as they tend to chew things I am just worried incase chewing the lino could be harmful to them?
Anybody have any other ideas what I can put over the carpet?

Many Thanks

Hi you can use a shower curtain or lino as a base. Then add a layer of towels and then fleece. You should not use towels alone as guinea pigs can get their nails caught in the material and they are not water proof. Fleece wicks away the water sending it to the towels so it is ideal. I buy mine from primark. You have to wash and dry it three times to prepare it. Do not use fabric conditioner. I hope that answers your question.

Thank you. I will try lino and blankets and hopefully it won't go through to my carpet, lol the things we do for our little babies!

I find the best thing to do for on the floor is buy either a shower curtain or i have a plastic table cloth, it's meant to protect tables from spilt drinks etc, then a towel then fleece :)

For my piggy corners I also use plastic cupboard liner as underlay. There are quite a few cheap options depending on the size of your cage area.
