We have 2 couples (M+F). Each couple is housed in a standard sized cage, where they can only hear but not see each other. We are about to move all 4 pigs to a larger 10' by 5' area. This area will contain a hutch with 4 separate 1'x1' rooms and a feeding area. We are contemplating whether or not to keep the couples still separated in this new area.

Do you know of any precedents of 2M+2F successfully living together?
Does our plan have any chance of success?

Thank you.

The males would fight as only one male can live with sows but two males can live happily. You sound like you have two happy pairs so I would not ruin that.

I love to hear about the married couples! But it wont be a good idea to put the two couples together. The guinea pig herds in the wild have one male and several females. If there are two males, the males will fight over the females(blood probably involved). Just put a divider in the middle of the pen. They can see, hear, and smell each other with no fighting involved.
