We just brought home a guinea pig. I have read in one book that you shouldn't keep a house in the cage when you first bring them home because the guinea pig won't get use to you and comfortable in the cage.

What do you think? Should the house be in the cage from the beginning?

You need to have somewhere for your guinea pig to hide and feel safe in. They need to have a chance to get used to you and your house in their own time

I agree with Sarah. Every creature needs a safe place to be. Even us :)

House is good, without one it will take longer as they will feel cornered or very frightened. Having a house gives them a sense of safety and they will quickly come to see you as safe as well!
