Hi all

My Boys only came on last weekend and currently are sharing the house/bed/hidey hole thing that came with the cage. But seeing as I have noticed them displaying some dominant behaviour at each other I was thinking maybe I should get them an area each where they can go and chill out/sleep if they want too?

They do have tubes where they can hide in the main part of the cage but I was thinking more of the sleeping area/house.

I'll probably pop out later today to get theese or tomorrow. I was wondering what you all recommend? Should I get those soft cosy beds or a pigloo? or maybe a couple of those wooden house things?

Thanks for any suggestions.

even if boars arent dominant they should have at least two hideys each,i have 8 boars all in pairs and they all have at least 2 hideys and then things like beds are extras mainly because they arent a closed in safe place for them,if they get grumbly and want to be apart you dont want to have one piggy thats forced to sit in an open bed because there is knowhere else to hide, with dominant boars its best to have 2 of everything including bowls and in some cases hay mangers and water bottles too depending on how bad the dominance is,i have found majority of wooden houses only accomodate one full grown pig so try make sure you get a plastic one big enough for two so they can still sleep together if they want(with the plastic hideys they can get warm in summer so its best to drill a few holes in when the weather warms up), ,goodluck xxxxxxxxxxxxx

hya, i had the same problem, my two were displaying dominant behaviour-which is normal, and then the dominant one started sleeping outside the sleeping compartment by himself. i looked at the pigloos, but there huge! so i got one of those houses that are like a ball but with two holes in, and he loves it-bit of bedding in, and he was sorted-went in it straight away. i got it from p@h. gemx

Thanks right I will have a look in the shops and see what I can get then, perhaps get them a soft bed and a hidey house thing each then. Plus they've got a few large tubes and things to hide in already.

OK, lovely. At the moment they have a shared bowl for dry food and they share the water bottle but I put 2 bowls in with the fresh veg in. They seem to be ok with this but I *** monitor it.

Thanks again. I long for the day where I don't have to ask so many bloomin questions!

They love cardboard boxes up turned and cut out archways...........they can they 'add their own touches' to the boxes rolleyes:(|)

HaHa! Sounds delightful does that! lol

I work in a nursery so parent's are always donating boxes and tubes for "junk modelling" etc so access to boxes is not a problem, I'll 'borrow' a few when I come home today then.

Off to the pet shops now and then to work so thanks again for all the advice.

I have a combination of wooden houses, pigloos and boxes. They do shove the boxes about and I keep putting them back where they started but they do love a box.
