Not long got back from a diabetic appt - at the main hospital and everything's fine and well under control and Dr 'Gollum' (well he has a bald shiny head and sticky out ears like him!) seems really pleased overall.

Then he looked me up and down and hinted that I have put on weight! I have neither lost nor put on since seeing him!

Then kept on saying 'well I bet having 3 insulin injections make you more hungry so you will of course, eat more'... I said that my eating patterns haven't increased but he didn't seem to care, just kept looking me up and down.

So now, I just feel poo :(

Not looking for sympathy, but am on me tod at the mo so need to blurt it out

Bu***r him! What does he know. Bloody doctors. Next time, say it to him. 'Blimey you've put on weight since i last saw you'. Haha, see how he likes it. ;D

oh dear. Perhaps you were just wearing somehting bulky?

You could always offer to go on the scales. :)

I sometimes think Doctors aren't always the most tactful. I saw my GP a while ago about getting a lot of heartburn. I did mention that I tended to get it when I put on weight. He told me to stand on the scales and also measured my height and then said 'well i think the answer to the heartburn problem is pretty obvious isn't it!' Its a good job I still have a sense of humour. LOL

Don't worry about him! The important thing is your diabetes is well under control! :D XX

come to think of it, I did have my sleeves rolled up so may've made me look like a mumma hippo not a baby one! LOL

Offer to go on the scales.. hmmm takes them a life time to get a hoist as I can't stand! So that out the window!

Have had it all my life about the weight issue, but they never seem to understand that I am trying, but also very hard when you aren't as mobile, and also cos I have PCOS it's doubly hard to shift anything.

I just wish they would give me a bit of thought, you know? Afterall I do have feelings

I have a friend who really struggles to lose weight too. She also has PCOS. She has tried all sorts of diets but the one she felt worked the best was the Atkins diet. Both her and her husband lost quite a lot of weight and they stuck to the diet for a long time. Unfortunately a lot of the weight has gone back on since she stopped it.

Yeah, gonna try that anyway. Only allowed to go on for a couple of weeks at a time because of the diabetes, but hopefully it's gonna work! Slowly but surely :)

good luck as some one with diabetes and PCOS and an undractive thyroid I know how damn hard it is to lose weight, tell him to swivel next time or maybe you could say well I CAN lose weight what you gonna do about your butt ugly face

I've got 2 hosp app next week one for neurologist and one for biomechanics which try to help you with foot problems by making foot in soles etc, I need a foot insole made to measure to help my big toes which are locked solid and dont bend with arthritis, its soooooo painful first thing in the morning

Kelly, I didn't realise you couldn't actually stand on the scales - stupid I know, but I sort of thought you might be able to, so I hope you're not upset by what I said.

Debbie, I am always on Atkins - on it now. It's the best, most healthy and safe diet there is. Diabetics doing it can end up no longer having to take insulin, because it doesn't just make you lose weight but changes the way your body works. Highly recommended.

Kelly ignore the doc just remember you're loved here and we all think you're great.

We're all beautiful we just come in different packages. Mines a bit round at the moment ;)

Ahh Kelly. The only way to deal with docs like him is to tell him to shut up and get on with what you're actually there for. I've had it all my life with them telling me I should lose weight etc etc. Now whenever my doc says anything I just say "still never mind eh" he never knows what to say to that ;D. One locum asked me if I had ever thought about losing weight. I turned to him with a shocked expression and said "are you saying you think i'm fat? How dare you" ;D he was lost for words. They're not God, they're just people and never have the right to make you feel uncomfortable or upset. They're supposed to make you better.
If all the above fails - run over his foot and refuse to move ;D ;D

LOL they'll put me in the looney bin! Well there was a dietician waiting outside the room, and she was like 'no-one wants to see me today, do you want to?' and I laughed and said 'no way missus'! She didn't look too chuffed. LOL
