horrible/wierd behaviour!

My 2 piggies are girl BUT my boyfriends pig(grace) keeps on doing the noise that bours do when they want something... & keeps on sniffing her bum

& another one is that grace keeps on nipping me when i hold her, she drew blood the other day!. she dont do it to my other half.. my guineapigs fine with me...

another on.. Grace keeps on nipping Eedie(my piggie)on the ear and sides...

HELP! lol
 
i don't have an answer for the biting behaviour but bum sniffing/rumbling or noises similar can be done by both sows and boars x
Have you had the sexes confirmed by a piggy vet?
 
Yes as far as i know he said they were both girls too...

my boyfriend seems to think its her being deminant
 
Hi there. Yes, this does sound like dominant behaviour. My 2 Sows are very dominant with each other. They have settled down a lot now but still have their outbursts as I am experiencing today xx
 
thanks, it just seems like their having an argument, its been happening loads lately, it doesnt help that my piggie is still kind of shy, bless her. iv got them both in my arms now on a towl & their fine. i think they just needed love lol!
 
my guineapigs arnt fully grown yet so were gonna buy another cage when their bigger!
 
they seem to run about and have agreat time together, i get to hide their food all around and they run and search for it!
 
Is Grace an older girl? If so, she's just letting the younger ones know she is the boss & as has been said girls can brrrr & rumblestrut & chatter just as good as boys. I've had far more problems with hormonal girls than i have with boys, i find boys are more up front when they have an issue with other boars, girls are sneakier & let you think everything's fine then WHAM! :(|)
 
Sounds like Grace is a very dominant sow (ties in with her biting issue) and is taking it out on her companion. Don't worry, they'll settle down eventually and will be best friends. But it may take some time - you've had them only for about six weeks.

If the rumbling and humping flares up every two weeks or so for 1-3 days, it's because Grace is in season and has hormone overload. Some sows in season can get VERY grumpy and *itchy with their companion! Once she's a stable adult (age one year and over), she'll mellow with age...
