honest mistake or ripoff?

After all the trouble with my wedding hairdo I decided just to go for something completely different and go for a circlet with my hair open and in curls.

I found a woman in America that does beautiful ones and I decided to go for this one:

She emailed me today that she finished mine and sent me some pictures, if I like them then she would do the finishing touches and ship it.

Now what I saw on the pictures was really nice - but not my circlet :'(

on the picture she sent me (red background) its the same pattern - but there are big gaps... on the original those curls touch the moonstone in the middle, on mine there is a big empty space. :(

Now I am not sure what to do - refuse to accept it and ask for one like the original being sent, or just go for the one she made for me..? :(
 
if i was to say no I dont want that, I want the one I originally paid for (and I paid 130 pound for it :() how would I say that POLITELY?

Can anyone help with the wording?
 
I think you should get the one you want... dont settle for second best :)

Well, I think you should say something, if it's not what you want you shouldn't accept it....but, I'd be too scared to say anything, so can't help there.

It's your special day, have what you want, like BW said, you shouldn't have to have second best ;)

I like the original too love - the other one (I'm sorry) looks like a bad copy.

It's your wedding and you should have what you want. I would just be totally honest with her and say 'sorry, but I don't like it and looks nothing like the original'. She might prefer the honesty :)

The 2nd one looks like a bad copy i agree, if i was paying £130 for that, and it was for mywedding I wouldn't be very happy..

how aboutsomething on the lines of:

'Hi, sorry to be rude, but it looks nothing like the one in your original picture, the gaps are too big near the moonstone, and look completely different to how I want it. Its my wedding and I want everything perfect, Unless you can make me what I ordered then I'm afriad I will have to cancel my order, and ask for a refund.' <-- thats what id be saying lol I'm quite harsh when I'm complaining but if its not what you want, then dont get it..it will play on your mind on your big day and its gotta be perfect :)
 
I'm with kellyandpiggies and spudnik - if you're not happy with it tell her. Spudnik's got the right idea in her suggestion (although I'm a bit of a wimp and wouldn't be quite so forthright! ;D).

I would go with the "as this is my big day I really want everything to be perfect. I was delighted when I found your website/or where ever you saw her ad, as your circlet was exactly what I was looking for. Having placed my order on the basis of your example, and paid £130, I am afraid to say that I am very disappointed with the circlet that you have made for me. The gaps near the moonstones are too large and the circlet is generally not as your original example. I am afraid that I cannot accept the one that you have made and unless you can guarantee to make one like the original ,I must ask for a full refund".

I have just received an email back from her:

Hi Ulrike,


My circlets are all made by hand, not manufactured, so
from time to time there are small differences. You
will also see that the setting I have used for the
current circlet is different fron the one in the
picture - I used twisted wire setting for the original
and I used bezel setting for yours - bezel setting is
more pprofessional and golds the stone rather than the
stone being glued like it was in the original.

I actually did the hoops spaced a bit because I
thought it looked better this way. For the same reason
I made the hoops stand a bit higher than the stone
because it balances out the front and makes the
transition to the sides not as abrupt.

If however you like the height and the spacing of the
original better, I can change that and have new
pictures for you tomorrow - would that be OK?

So you all agree I should ask for the original one? (I could post full pictures of both if you want me to)
 
I think you should do what you feel is best :) You want to look perfect on your day... so would the original or the new one make you perfect? :)
 
Go with your own feeling love :) You want it like the original and if she is willing to do that, then go for it! O0
 
You wanna go with what you love - at the end of the day you want the best for your wedding day - its such an important day and you don't want to look back at the pictures and regret you never said anything... - I'm with everyone else, you go for it and tell her what you want - it's a gorgeous design and you'll look gorgeous in it! :) :)

its your big day, everythin deserves to flow round you

Dont let her fob you off, a wedding is the one day of your life that everything needs to be just so, you can never ever relive or replace that day, as for her e-mail she may have "thought" it looked better but you dont and since its your money and your wedding what she thinks dont really come into it!

Hope you get it sorted and congrats on the wedding, when is it?/

I am going to throw caution to the wind. The photo of yours has been taken at a slightly different angle so it could well be why it does not look the same. :) it could be better than the original but buying off the internet is risky and things can be made to look fantastic and turn out to be better or worse than a picture. Here in Nottingham there is hundreds of wedding shops if it was me I would want to see it before purchase at that price. Abnoba my sister has her own wedding dress shop and I am sure she would know how to source something like that :)
 
I have talked to her and she made some changes, and then again, and now she has sent me some more pictures and WOAH!

I am totally happy and cant wait to wear it! :smitten:
