hi all

I have my piggies in an outdoor hutch currently but hubbie has agreed they can move inside for the winter. Hurrah! I am going to make a wooden frame and then line it with wire mesh. My question is galvanised or pvc coated? I assume 13mm gap rather than 25mm is best?

I do not want to use c and c grids as they seem hard to get hold of and expensive. The cage will not need to be moved. It will house two girls and be the equivalent of 2 x 4 grids and I will build a small loft also. I am planning to source some correx so will be easy to clean.

Any other thoughts or ideas please share

Thanks in advance

Claire

Sorry, I read the OP incorrectly, thought it read ideas for a pen wanted not ideas for a C&C cage!

Whoops and sorry again.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway Kate. I'm after advice on wire as there are so many choices

If you buy correx that's at least 4mm thick, it'll be very sturdy and won't need a cage around it. You could use cheap plastic foot stools inside the correx enclosure to use a a base for an upper level, also made of correx.

So I'd suggest buying your correx first and making your 4x2 liner, then seeing if you feel it needs support around the outside. You'd be surprised at how rigid 4mm thick correx is.

Thanks. That is really helpful. Are you in uk? If so where did you get your correx from?

Gosh, I can't remember now - I bought my 4mm thick stuff a long time ago from ebay. Just search 4mm thick correx on Ebay and you'll find loads! Because I already have a C&C, I now use 2mm thick correx which I can buy locally at Wickes or Travis Perkins. But the 4mm thickness is much better as it stands up all by itself!

:agr: 4mm correx is so much better, I used to have the 2mm but it kept crumpling up.
