So Mr S is planning on building an indoor cage for toby and Barney. The overall design is going to be the same as a 4x2 C&C with a 2x1 loft. The difference is that rather than correx the base will be wood with a hard plastic waterproof layer. Instead of mesh grids the sides will be made completely of Perspex. In effect it will be like a huge tank but without a lid.

Does anyone think there will be a problem with this design?

Cage and water bottle sounds great You are lucky being able to build something like this It is my dream Mine are in c&c with ground sheet beneath fleece

If you attach a hay rack to the Perspex then you could put the water bottle inside the hay rack....if you get what I mean?

oh lord - I had totally forgotten about the hay rack! Why does my hubby always have to make things so complicated - I was just going to buy a C&C kit from internet with 1 touch of a button!

That sounds really good! Could you not use hose suction pad water bottle holder? Also, you don't necessarily have to have a hay rack- could use a litter tray? Or similar- so hay in a box on the floor?

I have managed to find a suction water bottle but am still stuck on the hay rack. They have hay as bedding that they like to sit and pee and poop on so they do need a hay rack so I can keep the timothy hay and readigrass off the floor or that will end up soiled as well.

I’d always reccomend having some sort of off floor storage for your hay in your piggies cage, although litter trays are great for piggies to play in they aren’t the most hygienic method.

Maybe you could use hooks that are a bit wider (i can’t think of what they’ve called but my boyfriend mum has them to hang pots and pans on from this frame thing?) but just find a hay rack you can make an adjustment too so it’s wide enough to hook over the perspex ?

I think I shall hand the reins over to Mr S - he is a lot more creative than me!
