Hi! :)
I recently traveled away from my piggies for the first time and came back to find that they had barely consumed any water and seemed incredibly stressed. Seeing them like that made me super worried about potential future travel. There is a very well-known, credible rescue in my area that boards piggies, which seems to be a great potential option for my herd, as the staff is experienced with poorly piglets. My parents reminded me, however, that they have free roam of my room at home and that having such a dramatic change in their environment would be stressful.
I'm not sure what to do.
On one hand, I want them to stay home whenever we travel, but on the other, although my family friends adore the piggies, they just don't have much experience caring for them.
Any thoughts?
P.S.
I found these bath mats online.

Hubby and I used to leave our past piggies with my in-laws whenever we travel overseas (usually around 2 to 3 weeks every time, around 2x a year). They were fine in the past and they do get spoiled by my in-laws. But since we started having sick piggies whenever we go on our holiday, (it's been a constant thing for the past 3 or 4 years, which kinda sucks to be honest) we decided to board them to someone who can take care of them properly and take them to the vet when it needs to while we are away. It's just a bit of peace of mind for us, especially when we can assure that the piggies' needs are given priority. My in-laws are great but we know they can only do so much, plus we don't want them to get stressed with taking care of sick piggies and worrying if they would die with them.

If your relatives can really take good care of your piggies' special needs and you are confident that they would do a good job up to your standards, then leave them with them. Otherwise, I advise to board them with someone knowledgeable in handling special needs piggies, especially if money is not an issue.

We always take our piggies on holiday with us, it’s pretty easy as we don’t go abroad nowadays, we are done with travelling, it’s not as pleasurable as it used to be. We always find pet friendly accommodation in Suffolk or Devon/Dorset. They will go on their own separate holiday to see Debbie at TEAS when we can finally get up north to see friends and family 😁

We always board our piggies when we go away, even if it is only a couple of nights. I have absolute trust in the people who look after them and know they will get the same standard of care they have at home.

Since I moved last year, I always board my piggies when we go on holiday. I have found this lovely lady who loves all furry animals and has hutches in a shed in the garden which is heated for winter time. In the summer my piggies have fun outside in a run all day before being put safely back in the hutch in the shed. I trust her completely with my piggies.
