I'm really hard to get to school so mum looked into home schooling... today she got a call and they have accepted it!
So now i am officially being home schooled! Tomorow we are going to get all me books and everything i will need but now i dont have to go to school... mum wants to eventually get me back there though! I am so happy... now i can be here for my animals when they need me :smitten:

I'm so happy... still have to break the news to my friends though ::) hope they dont react te way i think they will lol

I home ed my four children at the moment! It can be really good fun (and you can make the most of beautiful days like today ;))
There are loads of groups and resources on the net. Education Otherwise is a really big organisation with lots of resources and contacts. And there are loads of yahoo groups that you can join to find local groups/activities/visits etc.
Welcome to the world of home school! :D

OK I am gonna ask why are you so hard to get to school?

I just hate going to school :( i dont know why ?

We just got home and we got a few book $200! lol Were gonna sort out a lesson plan and go from there :)
I told my friends andthey were like nooo! :( lol

Whilst I can see a lot of benefits from being home schooled, are you likely to miss out on relationships with friends? I didn't particularly enjoy school but I made some good friends while I was there. In fact I am still friends with some of them 37 years on (now I am making myself sound old! LOL)

Lol... I have to sign this thing my parents are writing up...
I have to agree to...
Socialize EVERY weekend
I have to see a councellor regularly
And if i dont do my work at home i have to go live with my dad and go back to public school :(
so ill stick with it, I dont really socialize at chool alot anyway so hmm lol

I really hope it works out for you! :) Just don't lose touch with your mates though! Friends are very important! :)

Thanks :) I def wont lose touch... they're my escape from my mad family ;D

I often wondered how you where always in the game room with me, i figured you just hung out the computer room all the time LOL

I loved being at home when i was school age and would have given my back teeth to be home schooled you lucky mare :D

Will you still get a break time!

;D I was in the games room alot coz i wouldnt go to school :( but now i have to because its only down the hall ;D
I still get break time but we havent sorted the timetable yet :)
I had to do 36 maths questions while mum was at wok this afternoon and found it was hard in front of tv ;D but i have a desk in the computer room now so yer :)

I would love to be homeschooled..I know people say they wouldn't like it cos of not being with their mates but I have more enemies than mates :D My mum is too idle and dumb though ;) (hey, her own words!)

Lol... lucky most the things come with answer sheets... my mum says about the same as what yours does ;D
Its really expensive too... we got 7 books yesterday for $200 and the worsheets that goes with one of the books costs about $83! But I'm asking for money for my birthday :)

There are lots of approaches to home schooling with varying amounts of structure. We looked into it seriously and almost took our youngest child out of school in July 06. At the moment we are taking school as it comes and if need be will withdraw him from school. He is extremely able academically and has alwasy had a drive to learn so i think we'd be fine for a while but i'd be more anxiouos about secondary level and making sure he got the qualificatiojns he needed to go all the wya. However my understanding of teens who home school can also do GCSEs when they are ready rather than all at once. we almost took our eldest out of school during a period of bullying in year 8 last year (this after being bullied 5 out of 7 years at primary level) but he is now a lot happier and settled. Year 9 has been great so far.

if you make contact with your local Education Otherwise group you may find other teens who are home schooled, or other parents your mum can chat with about home schooling. I think EO does an annual pass that entitles you to reduced admission to places. Sometimes families get together for outings or to share resources, eg hiring a Science lab together.

Home schooled children often do a lot of mixing with adults too and can take on part-time or voluntary work in addtion to their studies.

Don't lose touch with your friends and hope it all works out.

Thanks for that... mum suggested today i could go to the zoo or museums for 'excursions' and do a report on them :) sounds like fun to me lol

Sorry for all the typos - was about to go out and in a bit of a hurry.

And I've also written as though you live in the UK - if you don't I'm sure there will be other home schooling organisations around if not EO. Hope it goes really well.

I'm in australia ;D
ive been doing it for 3 days now... and ive done a fair bit of work... mum and i sat down and did some revision of maths... i got quite a bit wrong but i just needed to look harder ;D
Its so arkward when my mum is teaching me... but tomorow is my first 'propper' day ;D

It will take a while to adjust but sounds like you're making a good start! I have lots of family in Perth, Australia and would love to live there, lucky you!

;D... mum and i have done alot of revising with maths... i got heap wrong lol
and now i have to write out (neatly) all the work i have done ready for the moderator ;D

Hey chick don't forget your mates at school remember i said that they are important, you wont realise it now but.... would you believe i met friends from when i was in year 9 so i was 14 years old and now...err i'm 51 and we're still good friends. It is great what you're doing so go ahead enjoy. Remember your goals, RSPCA... you will need people skills there could you also do voluntary work at a rescue or something to help you? Keep up the good work and put that head down and study! LOL you know what i mean...... you gotta have a mix of school work, friends and fun time O0

Hi, Bramble, I'm not sure where you are but these ones were helpful for the UK:
www.home-education.org.uk
www.education-otherwise.org
www.heas.org.uk
www.parentscentre.gov.uk/whatchildrenlearn/learningathomeoutsideschool/electivehomeeducation
http://www.oxfordhomeschooling.co.uk (I think there are other suppliers of GCSE correspondence courses, some people go for a tutor to support learning in some subjects or share a tutor, some go for part-time college courses.)

The links usually link onto other sites too.

Found these in google searching on home education:
Australia
www.hea.asn.au/
www.home-ed.vic.edu.au/
www.home-school.com/groups/australia.html

Hope that helps!
