I have waited three months for this! My first rescue guinea pigs arrived on the 2nd April. I still can't believe they are here. I rehomed them through The blue cross. They had come from an overcrowding situation where there were 15 guineas in one small indoor cage. The owner had 30 altogether. All were very malnourished and completely unhandled. They spent 2 months at the rehoming centre before they were healthy enough to come to me. They still need to put on weight. But they have settled in so well. They will now take food out of my hand and come out of their hideys when I enter the shed. I'm still waiting for that first wheek! So here they are. Parsnip (cream & white}, Bailey (pale cream & white) and Cloud (white) All are girls. Sorry for the long post. But I have been reading EVERYTHING on this site for the last few weeks. It's so lovely to have my own guineas to show everyone!

I do have one question. Cloud (the albino one) seems to really struggle with bright light. She always has her eyes half closed unless the light is quite dull. Is this normal for an albino or unique to her, and should I be concerned? Thank you.

They are beautiful and you obviously have a heart of gold rescuing these piggies and giving them their happy home ❤️ enjoy them.

Aw, congratulations. The Gruesome Twosome came from similar and lived a long and happy life once in a GPF approved Piggy Palace. Jenny is still going at 8.5, Timmy crossed the bridge at 7! Enjoy them, it sounds like they know they have landed firmly on their little paws with you 😁

They are beautiful! As for Cloud, there are no albino piggies. She is just pink/red eyed white. Did they say anything about her eyes when you picked them up? I assume they do a vet check before re homing but would still consider getting her checked out.

How exciting for you! The joy of seeing rescue pigs thriving in your care is a really special experience. Wishing you and your lovely ladies all the best in your new adventure together 💛

My Juniperberry is the same, she will go outside if not sunny and then will stay under cover ,she's 6 years old. And a pale ginger.left lower front

They are beautiful. Can’t wait to see more pictures of them.

Congratulations! Beautiful piggies!

There are no such thing as albino in guinea pigs. Albinism is a lack of pigment but this does not occur in guinea pigs. What you have is a red eyed white - this is an entirely normal colouring and there is pigment.
I’m sure red eyed whites tend to be a bit more sensitive to sunlight but if you are at all concerned then do have a check carried out

What a gorgeous threesome 😍 good in you for your patience and finally giving them a good home and wonderful future
I have a Ginger and white red eyes piggie called Ginger, she is a little more light sensitive than my other three and tends to squint in very bright sunlight too

That's good to hear. I did wonder if their lifespan would be affected due to a rough start. 8.5 is awesome!

Oh that's interesting! No they didn't mention her eyes at all. She had been vet checked though. She is so happy & bouncy otherwise. but I may just pop her to the vet to be sure. Thank you.

Thank you for answering. My instinct says that her eyes are just very sensitive as she seems happy apart from that. Your little herd is too adorable! I love Juniperberry for a name too!

Thank you! Oh look at your guineas  Thank you so much for answering. You have confirmed what I thought. she is so happy in herself. I feel sure she's just ultra sensitive to light. But wanted some second opinions.

Yes my Ginger is slightly light sensitive. I love her eyes, they change from red to the most beautiful golden colour in sunlight. Ginger and Posh are rescues that came from a hoarder who could not cope and had over 60 piggies. They have a happy life now 😊

That's such a similar situation that mine came from. Thank you again :luv:
