We usually have the guinea pigs on fleece bedding however when we go on holiday, we're looking for something easier for the person looking after them. I'd prefer not to use woodshavings as Kali as an allergy to them- so was thinking something like carefresh or that type of bedding?
What are peoples opinions on carefresh? also how long do you find it lasts? we're going for a week so would hope to get something that lasts that long.
Thank youuuu :')

Carefresh would be expensive.A lot of people use auboise and bosshogg swears by snowflake.I use finacard. There is a thread on bedding on this forum

Carefresh is fab for just a week but would be expensive long term, I think the decent size bags are £20 or £5/6 for a small 10litre bag. It's really easy to spot clean & very little smell. Hope your going somewhere nice on your holidays x

my friend opened a bale of snowflake shavings this morning for her horse, who does not tolerate dust because of a lung issue -it was by mistake, as we use different shaving normally, and she commented on how there really was no dust at all coming from it, while she was breaking it up and spreading it around the stable ... so that might be a good option indeed. ... i thought maybe switching to it after my bale of auboise finishes, although i am very happy with it, it just looks a bit choppy, but i layer it with hay ... which i replace every other day, while the auboise lasts much longer -have not tried a week, but should do (with newspapers underneath).

I use carefresh fr my hamsters, its great. In an appropriate size cage and with spot cleans it onpy needs dumped out and replaced eveey 3-4 weeks. I doubt it would last that long for pigges though. Some peope also use fitch which is very similar and alot cheaper.

ah right okay thank you everyone! I think we're going to try carefresh this week and if it works well we will be using it for when we go on holiday. :)

My piggies will be on Fitch when we go on holiday, they're on it now but I'm just about to move them onto VetBed (well, ProFleece!) - but I can't expect the pet sitter to do daily poo picks! Haha. Fitch is pretty much exactly like Carefresh, but a fraction of the price! Our pigs love it & it's fab for Marble who sneezes a lot when on woodshavings :( Poor piggy. We have a 5x2 C&C cage so that much Carefresh would definitely put a dent in the bank account! Ack. xx
