Adult Guinea Pig
I need to start looking at what I will house Artie in when we go away.
Monty use to travel in an old ZooZone cage that fitted well on the back seat, but Wilfred hamster has claimed that now.
Artie lives in a Ferplast cage but I can't fit that on the back seat of our Golf Plus and get me in there too! He has Monty's old fabric carry bag which he could travel in but it's what to use when we get there. It's a 6 hour journey with stops so I did wonder about getting another zoozone cage as I can always use that as a hammy cage in the future. I think he would be fine in a carry box/bag for the journey too.
I could get a canvas puppy play pen to use once there but he is so use to a cage don't want to unsettle him.
Artie is an older guinea we don't know how old but RSPCA vets said at least 5, he is very slow and hardly moves unless from his cozy to his food bowl I think he will adapt well to travel and won't need masses of space - I have a pop up kids ball pool that can act as a run but to be honest he will just sit in his cozy.
I'd even wondered about looking at the plastic storage tubs as you can get some good sized ones but that would be very open on top. I do also have a bag of grids in the garage but would rather stick to an enclosed more traditional option with it being a holiday rental house - owner is fine about Artie going but I know she will want to meet him.
Any ideas on what might be best? Something like a zoozone cage with the ball pool run option or maybe a fold down puppy play pen? It has to fit on the back seat and leave me a seat too. Will stick to his usual half and half fleece and paper/hay inside as he loves that set up.
Thanks Alison
