HELLO ALL!
So I’ve had this one guinea pig since September.... he was born august 23
As long as I had him he never been able to squeal...... I have a skinny pig that try’s to communicate with him, and he can give little peeppeeps but he can’t yell or squeal or normally communicate back it almost sounds like he’s about to sneeze ....... when he’s trying to scream back it’s like a wheezing sound . And he’s been to the vet they say he’s fine he has no symptoms of anything ever but it worries me..... I wasn’t sure if maybe some pigs can’t squeal

Not every piggy will squeak. I’ve had my boys for three years and the underpig has only ever squealed when being chased or bothered by his friend. Otherwise he’s as quiet as a church mouse.

Does he live with your skinny in the same cage?

My Rainbow Piggy Dennis rarely spoke. He rarely rumbled or made any noise really. He was a happy and healthy boy most of his life.

My Delilah doesn’t make any squeaking noises, just sort of whispers! But she’s been like that all her life!

Not every pig has a loud squeal and some lose it over time (one of my previous pigs had a 'silent wheek' as she got older- she would still wheek but no noise would come out!) I have read that the really loud wheeks are more for the benefit of the humans than for other pigs (they are basically yelling at us because they think we're bad communicators! LOL!) Most of the actual communication between pigs is body language and those little chuffy/squeaky/purring noises.

Wow
Thank you all SO VERY MUCH my nerves are finally calm.
Yes they are kind of in the same cage they are at the moment separated.... I have a skinny and a furry white one

when they met the first day it was great and they were in love and cuddling and it was great but then we noticed right away but still to late that he had mites ( white one )so we separated them and treated them ..... they’ve been separated about 2-3 months and I tried to have them come together again and the white one who is actually the baby but bigger started to dominate instantly and started attacking the skinny so I have them separated I guess until he calms down. Idk I’m still trying to figure out a plan to get them okay again .

Thank you all so much for your responses ! So very helpful I can finally rest 😁

How old are they? You shouldn’t have separated them when one had mites. That can cause issues. Dominance is normal and you need to be careful not to intervene too early. When you introduced did you just remove the divider? It needs to be done in a neutral area otherwise it’s seen as an invasion of territory.

Have a read of the guides below before you try again.
