So went to pets at home today and came out with a den for the run... they've been in it popeye more so than captain (he seems to hide under it) the idea was it would offer them better protection than cardboard boxes (which have to be replaced and disposed of really frequently and if there's some drizzle forecast I'm not umming and ahhing about putting them out as it's pretty shower proof and cosy..off the floor so will be dry and warm.. question is will they become used to it and use it ? It's cold today and hate the fact they're lying on their bellies on the patio instead of in the warm cosy den I just forked out for lol. Loving having the pigs with us.. no longer have our dog either :( so is bringing them in for winter really out of the question?

I have one of these and my pigs never use it! (unless I put food in) they sleep under it!
I wouldn't put my pigs in the run during winter, even with that hide, unless it was sunny, dry, not windy and over 10 degrees!

I know what you're saying but have read other threads and rescues advise to put them out unless it's..snowing ..raining heavily or frosted, apparently. Surely if they've got somewhere safe and warm to go to it shouldn't be a problem? It rained constant today here so they didn't get to go out.. hoping for a dry spell in the morning to put them out again and see if they're more acquainted with the hidey :)

Mine live inside all the time.Great run, lucky pigs

The run wasn't overly expensive can't remember what website I got it off now but it is a good size for them. I wish the house was that bit bigger so they could live inside but don't think there's enough space.. I will be getting a piggy shed for next winter but need to get some decking put down first to allow room for a shed.. this winter their hutch will be very well insulated..roll on spring I say x

I have one of those shelters. I ended up taking the ramp off as neither of my (then) pigs liked it. They pop in and out of it now quite happily. Judging by the amount of mess I find in there whenever it's out, they use it a lot.

My baby pigs and Lilith my older girl can easily fit under it to graze etc. My neutered boar can struggle under if he wants to, but prefers to nap in the hay.
