Hi, i need help I have 2 one year old female piggies who have always (mostly) got on fine. two days ago my sister brought over her two 4 week old female piggies for my kids to hug, we had both sets of pigs out at the same time and they seemed to get on ok. When we put our pigs back in their cage( not with the other little two) they would not stop fighting, it looks like its mostly one of them (matilda)causing the trouble, she is chattering a lot chasing and jumping at her sister (tabitha). That night we bathed them together and cleaned out the hutch and gave them so floor time together and they were fine with each other.
they have not fought since but matilda is the only one that goes in their bed( covered area) and tabitha just potters outside that area and even sleeps outside of it.
Matilda was always the dominant one but was never mean
I dont know how to fix this

Hi--

Sounds like they are worried they are going to have to fight for territory with the new piggies and have been spooked by them. Are either of them hurting the other? If it was me, I would see if they can work it out between each other and not separate them, as long as they are not causing each other harm. You wouldn't want to separate them and have the situation become permanent. I suspect Matilda is feeling a bit out of sorts for some reason and is making this known to her sister. She should settle down after a while, I think.

Good luck!

thanks ladys, we didnt separate the piggies, just scooped them up for bath and cuddles.
their was no blood drawn and i dont know if teeth were out reall, just lots off chattering squeeling and they were right at each other, could really see, just a blur of fur lol
they are better as i said no more fighting as yet and they will stand together fir food but tabitha seems to be an outcast, not allowed in her bed area

I would put out a hidey for Tabitha, so both sows have somewhere protected and hope that Mathilda will relax again over time. Make sure that Mathilda shares her food with Tabitha. If necessary, feed in two separate bowls, well spaced apart. Weigh both sows at least weekly.

have at least two hideys so they have one each, I did this because Bumble was too cuddly for Bea who liked to have her own space however since the day I brought it they spend a lot more time together in one although occasionally they do like their own space and there hasn't been any squealing again since
