Hey everyone so I got two new guinea pigs and I just wanted to know if you could give me some taming tips ? And some tips on what I should feed them

Hello Welcome to the forum

Looking forward to hearing and hopefully seeing lots about your new piggies This thread shows you how to upload photos http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/how-to-post-photos.112751/ and if you have any problems just ask

Guinea pigs are prey animals so are skittish at first but with some time and patience they soon settle and you form great bonds with them. This will help with Settling piggies http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/how-do-i-settle-shy-new-guinea-pigs.36239/ and this video gives you handy tip on how to pick them up

Hi :wel:to the forum..

hey,
welcome to the forum! I would give your guinea pigs some timothy hay and pellets and lots of vegetables/fruits.Taming your guinea pigs will be really easy, just hold your guinea pigs allot and give them some vegetables. when you go and see them in the morning, say a certain word every time you go out to the cage and they will start to familiarize your voice. when your feeding them in the morning make them come to you for food (this will take a while depending on the guinea pig) That's is how i tamed my guinea pigs.
good luck!:D

Thanks so much ! I was unsure wether I should hold them or not :) any ideas what type of veggies or fruits ? How long does the taming process take ? BTW should you hold them even if they do not want to be held ? They are 2 months and 3 months old
Thanks again

The links in my post give you ideas on veggies and amounts http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/...or-a-balanced-general-guinea-pig-diet.116460/

As regards to holding do it a little and often. So at first just have them on laps for 1 minute at a time and feed them something nice then pop them hope, they will begin to associate you with good things and relax. If they don't eat at first off your lap don't worry, they need time to feel safe and secure around you.

If they aren't used to veg don't go mass, introduce it slowly or it may upset their tummies.Welcome and enjoy them

Hi, I also am new too the forum ☺️ So when I first got my two sows (3/4months ago) they were a present. I unwrapped them for my birthday. This was my first time with guinea pigs, I wasn't sure how too care for them. But after a week of research, I soon became a, pretty much, expert. However, there is always more too learn and it is essential you know every rule in the book. I will leave some links below which I found very useful and hopefully you will get round too seeing them. Welcome too the forum!
