Hi all, I have been lurking around the forum for a couple of weeks reading all your fab posts so decided it was time to join you! I didn't know the forum existed until a month or so ago, but I'm really glad I found you all.

As the subject says, I live in Kent, just outside Maidstone with my other half, two daughters, 10 piggies, 1 cat, 1 hamster and various fish, both coldwater and tropical - all in all a bit of a zoo!

We have been keeping piggies for over nine years now and have always had pets around the place for as long as I can remember. Like most people we started out with two (luckily two boys), lost one after five years and got the remaining boar two little friends - we were bitten by the bug and over the years our numbers have grown.

During the last year or so I have become known as the "guinea pig lady" at my daughters' schools and as such am frequently asked to look after peoples piggies whilst they are away. Last year I decided to "go official" and set up a small animal boarding hotel and we now have a variety of regular guests who come to stay and get spoilt rotten! - it is the best "job" I have ever had!

Hope to chat to you all soon.

Welcome to the forum :)

Look forward to pics!

Thanks Bev. Will try my best on the pics front. I have set up a photobucket account and loaded some photos so will try to get them on here. Might take me a while as I am a bit of a pc novice so apologies now if I muck it up :D :D Watch this space.

Hi Cavies Galore

Was there an article (a very nice one) about you and your animal boarding?

We live near East Grinstead - the other side of Tunbridge Wells from you - and I'm interested in exploring holiday options for our piggies. In previous years my parents have come and piggy-sat, but they are now in their 80s and finding it too much. Because we are tied to school holidays, my neighbour who would in theory be happy to look after them, tends to be away the same dates as we are.
This Easter we are renting a cottage and taking Sam and Roo with us, but we are just about to adopt two more boars and can not really take 4 of them away with us.

There is also a lady near Hailsham who is starting up piggy -boarding but as I imagine school hols are rather popular dates for needing piggy-care I would like to explore any likely-looking options.

Oh, and BTW - welcome to the forum! How rude of me - :o

Hi sammyroo and thanks for the welcome. I remember when we only had Rusty and Roger, they too used to come on holiday with us - those were the days! When our numbers first grew my parents looked after the gang for us, but my mum had major heart surgery about 18 months ago and just doesn't feel up to coping with the responsibility - people tend to forget it's not just about feeding the piggies, which has to be done a couple of times a day, it's all the cuddles, cleaning out, playtime, grooming etc. that takes the time.

My brother is in the course of setting up a website for me, I will try to pm you the website address, please excuse any typos it is still in the "set up" stage and I am waiting for him to put up my visitors page. If you have a moment take a look, we would be delighted to welcome your boys - we have two bonded pairs of our own, plus six girls.

Have just sent you a pm (hopefully!) Sammyroo, give me a shout if it doesn't appear in your inbox - sorry I am new to all this!

Hiya, welcome to the piggy forum :) Looking forward to your pics

Re: Hi From Caviesgalore, 2nd Kentish Girl This Week! - Photos Added

Ok so my first attempt at posting some photos of my gang. In no particular order, first we have Tetley one of our boars

Then his cage mate Curly, this photo was taken last summer, Curly is now huge!

Then we have Herbie, another bruiser who shares with Snowy

Final boar is Snowy, a real softy

Then we move on to the girlies, again in no particular order. First we have, from left to right, Bella, Blossom & Smudge during indoor floor time! These three live together.

Next up is Flo, with Ruby coming down the ramp!
