Hey Guys
Long time no see
I was scared to jump on this forum again after my 2 lovely piggies passed away but here I am
I am okay.... I am in australia where as my 2 other little piggies are back home
My old sow who is now 4 years old is losing a lot of hair on the back
She was itching 2-3 month ago so i asked my mom to give her some fenbendazole
She stopped itching and started putting on weight but now her bald spot is getting bigger and bigger on her back
Everything in my house is falling apart back in India my dad is chronically sick and now my sow is sick with something i don't know and I have no access to vets.
I don't know what to do so any kind of help would be welcomed and I am readily happy to go back to india for taking care of her.

I'm very sorry your piggy is sick and you're so far away.
I think your threat is in the wrong section for the medical experts to find it. Since it's christmas weekend, I'm not sure who will be around today.
@BossHogg could you please shift the threat to the medical section. Thank you!

Hi Ritika Lovely to hear from you again! Never be scared to chat on' this forum. It is full of lovely friendly people who love to chat and share the time of day as well as help you to look after your piggies. I'm sorry that you're piggy and your Dad are not well and wish them a speedy recovery.

Since you were last here, I have lost Lexi and Meg and adopted Misty and Bramble. Thea is now on her own as she didn't like Misty and Bramble but is quite happy still at nearly 7.

hello Ritika, it’s so lovely to hear from you again. I am so sorry you are having such a worrying time about your Dad and your little piggie. I hope you can find out what the problem is without having to go back to India 🤞

Hi and welcome back

HUGS

I am ever so sorry for all your problems; the sadly tend to come in groups. :(

Please try the fenbendazole again for now and do a full course of at least 3 treatments at the interval stated on the packing. Make sure that the dosage is right for the weight before applying. The mites may have come back.

Hello, it's lovely to hear from you. I'm sorry your piggy is sick. I have no advice but just wanted to send hugs and best wishes for her recovery

How lovely to see you again @Ritika .
So sorry that your dad is so ill, and the piggies are sick too.
It’s hard when you live so far away.
Holding you in my heart ❤️

Hey Wiebke
Thank you so much everyone for their responses i really appreciate it I have been really busy lately i lost my job 2 days ago.
I asked me mum for her weight and it is not decreasing it 701grams
She has a really good appetite and eats hay alot.
She has no itching as well my mum has been sitting with her all times and she has no itchiness at all.
My brother is a doctor and I asked him to check her abdomen area by lightly palpating for any cysts or tumors and and he told me he felt nothing.
I would continue with fenbendazole 0.4 ml again for 3 doses if you would still suggest?
Thank you again for everyone's response :))

It's so hard to even think for me about the piggies i lost this year Betsy💔 I have kept all their photos and videos in my hidden gallery cause still i get emotional and miss all my piggies so much staying so far away from them and knowing they are growing so old. I am just trying to finish my degree as soon as possible and get more guinea pigs here with:))

I will also ask my brother to send some pictures of her balding and there is no new hair growth.

Also Wiebke
the fenbendazole is 2.5% in strength and the vet we asked for suggestion couple of months ago said to give her 0.4 ml
He was not very sure though so just checking if it should be okay?

If your family has not started it then I would leave be. If they already have, then I would continue with the full application. The worst you can do is a half-finished treatment as that can lead to resistancies. But glad that your piggy is stable in herself.

I am so sorry that you have lost your job. :(

No they have no started the medication yet but i don't think they finished the last course they gave her 2 months ago properly because it was very very tough to give her the medication orally with a syringe no matter how they tried she would not take it so they would force in like 0.3-0.35ml instead of 0.4ml.
I will post a photo of her back now

Hi Ritika lovely to hear from you again

I am very sorry for your two losses 😞 I’m afraid I can’t advise on the one losing the fur but I know how stressful it is especially when we’re miles away and can’t help

Since you were last here, I have lost Edward, Ella and Elizabeth 😞 I just have Esme left now x

Hey Claire!
I was just going through your other thread about you leaving the guinea pig journey💔
Its really sad but it's something necessary as well especially after being heartbroken after so many cute souls leaving.
I hope Esme will be loved by other piggies soon ♥️♥️
I look around for piggies at rescues to adopt around me all the time but sadly I don't have any space in my rented room at this time of my life where I am a student.

Thank you. It’s been such a heartbreaking year 😞 Esme is understandably very quiet and lonely 😞 It’s so hard ending the piggy journey but it’s something I need to do for my own health right now. I’m going to miss Esme so much but it’s what’s best for her.

I’m sorry you can’t have piggies while you’re a student but you have piggies waiting for you when you go back home and you can always adopt some more once your studies are over 🙂 x

It's getting worse day by dad the balding We have no idea what it is or what medication we can try give her atleast.
I haven't started fenbendazole but should I?
Thank you
