So we have taken in another boar, Norman, who is 14 weeks old he is an Abby like Herbert but white white a pink patch on his black ear. Anyway the justification was as a potential friend for Sven... However in a turn up for the books when very briefly introduced herbie didn't seem to mind Norman at all... We r now thinking of trying a proper introduction tomorrow. Any tips? I always felt I had to step in with herbie and Sven after about 20-30mins as they would begin to rear as if to lunge at each other ...

Each intro is different as the personalities involved dictate the dynamics. Mutual liking and character compatibility is the key for a successful bonding, but once committed, you really have to sit it out, otherwise they have had to completely restart from scratch. But if there is great interest on first sniff, you are certainly up to a promising start! If possible, let them have overnight time with interaction through grids/bars, so they can get to know each other before bonding.

So intro has been going for about an hour or so now. Lots of poops and pee. Herbie is humping little Norman lots, making loud noises, Norman is just trying to avoid it, but is accepting it. Herbie seems to be laying down now and then in between humps and chasing. They r sharing leaves, which herbie takes. The noises and Body language is much different f when we tried to bond Sven. Nerves are getting to me...

Best of luck! Bonding is a nerve wracking process at any time. Has Norman got a refuge (with two opposite exits) that he can retreat to without Herbie being able to get into it?

Thanks herbie seems to be trying to get under Norman, like he want to get to Normans bits... Also Norman seems to have some red marks around his bum like bruising, r there normal. Herbie was non stop jumping Norman and he had no where to hide so have separated for now. Will wait until everything is set up right before trying again.

But little Norman looks bruised...
