I've discovered that the new baby is actually a boy. I've just walked in the room where the cage is kept to find the 2 girls making deep throaty rumbling noises and teeth chattering and the baby trying to mount his mother. He's not 3 week old till Friday, is it too soon to take him from his mum. He's eating normal food with no problems whatsoever, what's the best course of action overnight until I can get the hutches rearranged and move junior in with my boar? I've put him in the carry case with plenty of bedding and the rumbling has stopped.

I've just weighed him and he's 275 gms

I would leave him until friday then, unless the girls are getting really annoyed with him.

The girls are really annoyed, they calmed right down once I removed him from the cage.

:/

Are you sure youve seen a *penis* or are you just asuming he is male because of the humping?

He's big enough to be separated if needed. Boys won't be able to father babies right away the first time you see them rumbling or mounting, but they won't be all that far behind.

It is great that you have another boar he can live with and who can continue to teach him piggy ways.

So he'll be safe overnight until I can get both homes cleaned out and start afresh.

Now Angel is trying to hump Lola, I definitely know she's a girl as she's had a litter, what is going on!

:)

just make sure hes eaten something before you go to bed, and I'm sure he will manage for one night. :)

(sorry, i was just checking! :P)

He's got plenty of fresh hay, a bowl of food and a bottle of fresh water, I don't know whether to move him from the room in case he gets upset being separated from mum?

If he gets upset, id imagine which room hes in will have little baring. :/ Sorry. Unless someone else knows different...?

Also, Girls hump during dominance behaviour same as boys, sorry! :P

You've got a girl in season - they hump each other when they have a strong one; and that is the reason why your little boy has been so excited, too. But he will still have been too young to do more than practise.

Put the little lad straight in with your boar, he'll get humped for a little while, but it should settle - just keep and eye on them...you'll probably find that the little lad will do more of the humping :))

Barty had all his tackled removed when he was young, so that's not a problem. So it will be safe to leave him with mum till morning? It's a bit too late to start cleaning hutches and moving things round.

I would just take the little lad out of mum's cage and put him straight in with the boar, he's more likely to accept him as he smells of girls rather than boars.

I've put him in on his own with Bart, I'll see how he is in the morning. fingers crossed he'll be fine, Bart is a big softie.

It's in the lap of the gods, hopefully when I get up there'll still be 2 boys blinking at me wheeking for greens, I probably won't sleep a wink tonight for worrying! :(

Hi love just wondering how it all went overnight? sorry just catching up on your thread........ cheeky little guy hiding 'his tackle' eh rolleyes

Well, I woke up and lifted the cover off the hutch with trepidation! Opened the night compartment and there was Che, snug as a bug in a rug curled up between Bart's legs, Bart has taken to him straight away and looked after him. That's one thing less to worry about. :...
