Hey all - I haven't logged in in so long! Anyway, its my guinea pigs Nibbles. Yesterday night i went to her cage and she was lying on her back! i thought she was dead, but i picked her up and she was breathing a bit still. I gave her some water with a syringe, and she ate some apple, feed and grass afterwards. I could still tell there was something wrong because her fur was ruffles up and she was shivering, and she didn't want to move; unlike she usually does.
This morning, i found her half dead; her eyes had crap coming outta them, and she was on her side, not moving her legs. She refuses to stand up right, and her legs are just sitting out in front of her like she cant use them or something. She has tried to walk, but now that seems almost impossible. She just give little squeaks every now and then and isn't twitching her whiskers as she should be.

The vets here won' treat guinea pigs so thats useless. >:(

Please, I'm so scared! What should I do! She looks as if shes on her death bed at the moment! :'(

Please if anyone can help, she doesn't have much time left!

I'm sorry to hear she's so poorly. What do you mean about the vets?
Keep her warm and comfortable is the only advice i can offer. :'(

I'm really, really sorry, but she does need veternerian treatment. Keep her warm and her fluids up, by syringe if needs be.

But really need medical advice

Shes sitting on my lap at the moment in a blanket

Its 8 am here, and the Vet don't open till 9! Besides, they won't treat her anyway

I'm sorry again - but you have to find someone who will treat guinea pigs. Surely there is some kind of emergency vet who specialises in them?

You may need treatment on prescription - Septrin, Metacam, Baytril etc - only things you can get from a vets

I only live in a country town in Australia! There's no guinea specialist for kilometers!

Hey love you live in country victoria, i'm about 30k out of Melbourne. So a big drive couple of hours but.... next time you have a problem please feel free to call my vet or...looking for a number hold on.............Animal Emergency Centre, they're in Glen Waverley i know that's no good as they're too far away, but they do give advice over the phone, and they're lovely well when i've phoned a couple of times they were great, anyways: 9803 8122 Keep that number handy as it's for all animals :smitten:
Got your pm, glad to hear things are getting better, Nibbles don't scare us all like that again. Seriously tho keep an eye on things just incase it happens again, then you can use that AEC phone number, i know they've got other branches throughout Victoria but i'm not sure about the country.
BTW hope you get some of the rain that's supposed to be coming in the next few days, i know you guys are really desperate for it :)

Thank god. I was convinced on going to the next page of this thread that the poor baby would have gone. What a huge relief O0
