Scarey the mum pig has started picking on Squeaky really badly! SHe is chasing her round, seeing her off and Squeaky has started to weeek really loudly and not for food... Its been going on since yesterday but not all the time. Its ahs started really badly since this mornings feed and there is a lot of chattering going on and not nice piggy chattering either.
Big bum is just letting it all go over his head and sits there chomping hay :))
I'm just wondering if i would need to seperate mum from the kids (they are both well over 2 years old) and popo her on her own in another cage? They are having a stand off at the moment. No blood has been drawn

Has anything changed in their environment recently? Or has either of them been unwell? Sometimes something can upset the balance and they have to re-establish it.

I would have them out, clean the cage well and put new bedding in, and try them back in it again. Take out anything they can fight over (hidey holes etc) and put two bowls, two bottles, two of everything else so they can't quibble over resources.

Hope they're ok

No nothign has changed! They got changed yesterday, normal food, normal hay, normal routine, not fighting over anything, they have got losts of hay to eat, the food is fine (never had any fights over it)...
I have no idea what is causing it...?/
I though at first they were just having a disagreement as familys do but this has been going on for the past 2 hours now. Its just the 2 girls.. Bigbum is not doing anything to keep the peace in this hareem the big wuss...rolleyes

I'm going by the fact that there has been no blood drawn which is a bonus. I will keep them tanked up on hay today and keep an eye on them but will grab another cage just in case...

If they are just squabbling and not actually fronting-up to each other (heads high) I would be tempted just to leave them to it (under observation). If you think they might actually hurt each other then I'd take the dominant one out, I think - if you take the least dominant one out she might have more trouble fitting back in?

Pigs eh! Could be hormonal!

Its mum thats causing all the trouble! SHe is squaring upto Squeaky no heads high or anything but she is really asserting herself... Squeaky poor thing is so on edge and just wants to sit still and chomp hay bless her!
I often wonder whether mum wants to have her kids around her as she has always left them to it and is the quiet one, i would have thought it would have been the other way round to be honest

Thanks for the advice... I'm off to the pet shop today so am looking into a smaller cage just in case...

Just saw Mum going for Squeakys face and Squeaky bolted. I have no idea what is going on but this is going on for too long. I am off to get another cage and mum is going to have to go in there.
They have had their disagreements before but never lasting this long and with this ferocity... ?/
Its stumped me and also disappointed me because i dont have the room to keep a pig seperate in the house and its too cold for them to go outside...

Blimmin piggies who'd have 'them!:))

I have taken her out, i felt really bad but i was upstairs and heard Squeaky wheeking and when i came back down mum was cornering her and wouldnt let her go anywhere... :(
THey have been together since they were born but maybe it has come the time that mum has taken against her daughter?

Anyone have any more advice? Any would be grateful, even if it ito say I'm doing the right thing or not!
It has been going on since 9 am this morning and has not stopped...:(
She is in the carrier until i get back with a new cage...

Bless her she is a very nervous piggy and gets her strength from the others but she has turned against Squeaky for some reason? She is very scared at the moment and hiding. Squeaky is chomping her way through a cucumber slice now fine...

Me again! I seem to be talking to myself at the moment!:))

I have given mum a time out in the carrier. she has had a piece of cucumber and time to settle down for an hour. She is now back in with them and i am keeping an eye on them all... if its starts up again she is coming back out! All is quiet at the moment so fingers crossed...:x

Aren't guinea pigs strange things sometimes?! rolleyes

So am I right in thinking that Mum is in with her daughter and also another sow? I might have read this completely wrong though.

Anyway, so they have got on fine before and then all of a sudden mummy piggy seems to be picking on daughter. How old are they all? Sorry if you have already said but I was just trying to be quick and try to help.

Mum is in with her son and daughter. The son is neutered and they have been living together for 2 year now (since birth of the kids)...

They have never had anything like this between mum and daughter... It always seemed the two kids were the more dominant ones...:{

Well it is still going on... NOt as much frequency but every half hour or so... Squeaky gets cornered and now Bigbum has kind of joined in but only moving her away to where he wants her...
Poor thing wheeks so loudly when she is being picked on. I have a new cage from someone on freecycle coming and i am going to keep an eye on them tomorrow and see if it stops...

Thing is who do i remove if i need to? Bigbum is fine with either of them. I feel mum is a very nervous pig who may be better off with Bigbum as they know each other, and also i feel she may not bond as well with another piggy as Squeaky would. However Squeaky is fine with Bigbum also when mum is not around. I think Squeaky would bond better with another pig and also she has more confidence...

Any suggestions?
