Hey, I'm really struggling with this noise my guinea pig keeps making.
I've already taken her to the vet and they said that it might just be new noises for her but I'm still really concerned and don't know what to to or if anyone knows an actual cause of this issue. I linked a post I made on my reddit account about this too. It has exactly the sounds she's making. But it's kind of a honking/squeek when she breathes in.
She eats and drinks perfectly still she acts completely normal other than this new sound. She's only about 1 1/2 years old. I was told to just try to make a more humid environment for her and I'm trying to but she still makes the noises more often then I feel comfortable with. Her sister has been with her the whole time and never syarted making weird noises like edalin, the one making sounds. If anyone else has had an experience like this and found an actual cause please let me know!

I’ve removed your link as it’s broken.
The best thing to do is to take a video, upload to YouTube and then post the link here.

This is the YouTube link to some of the sounds she makes since the one I tried to do from reddit was broken

Thank you for letting me know I should have just gotten a better link to it that actually works!

I know you have taken her to the vet but is it a cavy savvy vets? I have been lucky enough to have not had problems with my boys but I hear so many times about vets who have no clue about guinea pigs. Hopefully she doesn't actually have anything wrong.

Yep I found an exotic specialist kinda near me. Both the vets her and her sister see are guinea pig specialists and made sure both had perfect bills of health.

So the vet has listened to her chest and confirmed it is clear and that she is healthy?

Do you use any perfumes, candles or sprays in the room?
Is your hay dust extracted?

You can try putting a bowl of steaming water by the cage to help humidify the immediate area.

Noises from the nose tend to be because of dust obstruction as piggies have narrow airways anything in the nasal passages can become quite audible.

Initially the sounds on the video sound like little vocal squeaks rather than breathing issues but it is hard to tell.

Yep they listened to her chest and even her nose and said they didn't hear anything off. I don't use any sprays or candles in my room. I get the guinea dad hay boxes which from what they say should have very low dust.
I'll definitely try the bowl of steaming water though, thank you!
From what I can tell every time she starts having an issue and makes the noises they're only audible when she takes a breath in. Which is why I'm a little more nervous that it isn't just a new sound she's intentionally making.

Do you have them on fleece or disposable bedding? I'm asking because George used to sneeze a lot before I switched to fleece. I've just listened to the clip and to me, I'm not an expert, it does sound like she's chatting/chatting.

They're mostly on fleece. They have a little area with their hay that's disposable bedding. Yeah it might jusy be new sounds I'm not used to yet but it seems connected to her breathing. If she breathes in that's when she'll make the sound along with it. That's why I'm a little more concerned it's not just a new sound.
Thank you for responding and letting me know about the bedding!

How do you wash your fleeces? If you use strong detergent or fabric conditioner these can cause issues.

If you use white vinegar in the fabric conditioner drawer it keeps them nice and soft. I worried that it would make them smell like vinegar but it doesn't. I now use it for the human towels and fleeces!

Oh that's cool, thank you so much! I had no idea it would keep their fleece soft I had red about it neutralizing some smells a little while back though. I'll try that layer today when I wash their fleece!
