So this is about my moms guinea pig. she is 8 yrs old. since 2019, her guinea pig’s legs became paralyzed. and this year, she has lost complete mobility. she lays on her side unable to move at all.

her eyes are also red with white discharge that leaks. she still has a appetite but my mom hand feeds her/leaves the food close to her mouth.

i dont think my mom knows the proper care of a guinea pig even though i kept telling her. this pig has not had a companion so she lives alone. my mom also overfed her a lot- giving her an entire bowl of lettuce and a lot of carrots 5 times a day. and she didnt get much exercise- mom always brought her with everywhere she went but she would put her in a small box so that she would “keep still”

mom also doesnt let her have hiding spot houses, and there is always a bright light over her. no darkness. and her poop and pee piles up under her constantly since she cant move anymore.

also mom refused to take her to a vet.

i wish to do more but i am only 15. its clear her guinea pig is dying. but she been like this all year this year. is she very miserable and suffering based from my description? mom is feeding her and putting her on a comfty blanket but she wont listen to me when i research on what to do.

forgot to mention, her guinea pig has had a very large lump on her lower back/bum area since 2018 thT has since grown.

also i should mention, her eyes are never closed or relaxed and always wide open for some reason. and she is always looking downwards. its like she cant look anywhere else. like her eyes are stuck- is that possible? sometimes it gets to the point her pupil is rolled back and all you see is her eye whites…

I am very sorry that you are in this position. Please ask a responsible adult to take the guinea pig to see a vet urgently - either to help improve her condition, or if she can't be helped, then to help her to be put to sleep.

I am also very sorry but as you are underage to use the forum your account will need to be deleted.
