I'm new to the forum, but I have an issue that I need help with. I used to volunteer at a farm that also offered a small petting zoo. They took good care of the larger animals, but I just about cried when I saw their guinea pigs. The guinea pigs were in a wire bottom cage with no food, even hay, and their water bottle was empty. They didn't have a hideout, and they kept them in the barn with the horses, on the floor. It was obvious they hadn't done any research, but i couldnt do anything except spend as much time with the guinea pigs while I was volunteering there as possible and try to educate them on guinea pig care, but they didn't change anything. Soon, full responsibility of the guinea pigs was put on me. They had a long haired piggie with so many tangles I had to shave part of him, and their nails where torn from the cage. I don't volunteer there anymore, but I keep wondering how I can get them out of that situation.

I would report them to the rspca x

Are there not any animal welfare places in America?

I've researched it, but cant find one. The thing I'm most scared of is the fact that they are kept on the floor in the barn with horses. If a horse spooks, the cage they are in can very easily be crushed. I tried getting them to move it, but they don't listen.

Do they have to hold any licences? (I very much doubt it as I don't think they need to here either). If so you could report it to the firm who issue licences

Go on to Guinea.lynx they might be able to help, I think they have dealt with problems aboard. Please make sure you do report them, it breaks my heart how some people care for pets as disposable items.
