My two guinea pigs currently have wood shavings to cover the cage floor [under that is paper].
The wood shavings do not absorb urine and I'm having to change and clean the cage three times a week. This is causing me a lot of expense with wood shavings and paper lining. mallethead
I was thinking of using non-treated natural cat litter, such as wood pellets or cat litter sand [heres a link to the one I found: http://www.qdstores.co.uk/kitty-sand-cat-litter-3-9ltr-pid59.html ]? Is this advisable? Also, would hay be a good floor covering or would it be too dangerous in case they ate damp hay?
Please advise!
