2 guinea pigs 4 weeks old.

Got two 8week old female guinea pigs at Christmas, one ended up being pregnant (we didn’t know until she gave birth). Asked pet shops advice on these 2 babies & they said female so just getting some more opinions. Pictures 1 & 2 are the babies from two weeks ago, pictures 3 & 4 are them today. 5 & 6 are the original two guinea pigs to make sure both are female (obviously mum is so really just the sister we’re wondering about).
Thanks in advance for any replies

Hello and welcome to the forum. I will wait for someone more experienced rather than giving you my opinion.

Hi and welcome

Unfortunately, your pictures are too blurry for me to do more than guess - and that is not good enough. I would also appreciate if you could gently pry apart the slit since females look much more different there to boars and will go a long way for me to ideally spot three different gender identifiers in each picture.

You can find comparison pictures in this link here to show you what we are looking for in order to make up for not being able to handle your piggies and look for ourselves.

Our way may be a bit more tedious and take more time but we promise that all piggies will be correctly sexed by the end of it.

thanks for the reply, I’ll aim to get some better pictures either tonight or in the morning now that (I think) I have a better idea of how to take them. In the meantime are any of the pictures clear enough to hazard a guess?

Hi

I have a feeling that you may end up with four babies of the same gender, which are always most difficult to sex because you are looking for differences where there aren't but I really do not want to call it at this stage, and neither do I want to call the mother's companion from that picture. I will hopefully around again by tomorrow afternoon.

Hey everyone
I hope these are a bit better? Let me know
I haven’t included mum in this time, 1&2 are her babies & 3 is the other older one.

1 Boar

2 Boar? - Please feel the two other babies in the penis shaft area first so you know what to feel for. Boars have a distinctive tiny bump under the skin but sows have not.

3 Sow

Unfortunately if the little ones are boars they need to be separated as they can get mum and auntie pregnant at either 3 weeks old or weighing 250g.
Both your ladies should be considered pregnant until 10 weeks after separation.
