My nearly 4 year old piggy has been losing weight over the last few weeks ,( he lost his partner a few weeks back) but now seems to be stable and has been to the vets twice and they can not find anything wrong with him.He has been having slightly soft poos which are a light brown in colour and can be a bit smelly. He is eating OK, but does not seem to be drinking very much. Without syringe feeding him as he is eating on his own, is there anything I can give him that might help to put back a bit of weight.
Many Thanks

when howard was on his own, he hardly touched his veg. We were getting very concerned about his, but soon realised that he would take it if we had fed it to him. basically we pretended to be other guinea pigs, so he felt he was competeing for the food. It definately worked, but was very time consuming. We recently receieved to baby sows which he now has for company, and a happier pig you will not find. he's eating fine and popcorning soooo much I think he'll do himself a mischief. :smitten: maybe your pig is a bit lonely?

i agree with the above posts, try taking your piggy to a rescue and let him pick out a friend/s and see if he picks up and starts putting on weight. though sadly when piggies get older they do lose weight just like people do. sending hugs and healing vibes :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and so sorry for the lost of your other piggy :'( :'( :'( RIP sweet angel run free and be happy, watch over your mum and friend 0:) 0:) 0:)
