Hi, I don't know if this applys for here but I'm in desperate need of a bit of help or advice!

I recently got a rescue boar, to go with my much older boy. They get along really we'll but for the last two days the younger one keeps jumping on Harry's (older pig) back. And there's a lot of squeaking involved!

I guess this means I need to split them up, but I can't seen to get hold of a cage, so can anyone recommend suitable housing (indoors) or a way to stop this strange behaviour. I have a feeling tree won't be any way, but any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Have a look at the bonding thread. Sounds like they are sorting out who is the boss! Make sure you have two of everything( hay, food bowls, hiding places with two exits so nobody gets trapped in). I can highly recommend C and C cages( see various links from this forum as several companies do them online). Hopefully Wiebke will see your post and give you more advice. Good luck and try not to worry too much xx

The squeaking you hear is the older boy showing he is submissive. It does not sound nice but it sounds worse then it is. Guinea pigs mount and chase to sort out an order. One needs to be top and the other bottom. This is perfectly normal behaviour and does not mean they need to be split up. Please read these links,

Great. Thank you both, I'm going to take a look at the thread now. So it's safe to keep them together? I have two water bottles but didn't think of an extra food bowl so thank you for that advice also!

Make sure there is more than one hidey for them too. Then there should be less issues over them fighting for the same one :) Fingers crossed once you get their housing sorted and double up bowls/hideys ect, they may settle down. It takes a little bit of time sometimes for them to establish who is 'boss'.
